I can’t find a cool name

It makes me so sad that this is Tom’s favourite song, seeing as lament means ‘a passionate expression of grief or sorrow’. He’s been through a lot
:( he’s the most misunderstood character in the franchise, everyone thinks he’s evil and horrible but in reality he’s just a man trying to do his job and live after having everything taken from him by someone he thought he could trust. He’s only pushy in the earlier games because he doesn’t want you to end up like him. With nothing. The fact he also employed Lyle in new leaf even though he had previously worked with the one who ruined tom’s life for a while really shows how kind he is, as well as the fact that he’s donated over 90% of his income to charity and took in timmy and tommy. He deserves a break

“I was so depressed, even the kind words of my friends hurt me” is a real thing he says in one of the games :( I want to give him a big hug, he deserves it

In my opinion, redd cannot be redeemed. He’ll never feel bad, he’s a scammer, he takes everything from one person and moves on to the next. He doesn’t care what he did to tom and I don’t think he ever will, seeing as he’s still scamming people to this day in new horizons

I agree with you. I will respect Tom Nook more now. But with the Redd thing I agree with that too. He scammed me and all he wants is money. Yet he still as the audacity to call me his favorite cousin. Like dang. You definitely not my favorite cousin.

fleas.

haha money go bye bye

It’s interesting that Tom Nook says this is his favorite. K.K. Lament is K.K. Enka in Japan, I believe. Enka is sort of like Japan’s country folk(?) music. I always imagined Tom Nook to be a sort of middle-aged man, so I feel like his favoring this song really fits ‘cause it reminds him of the old days. I wish I could explain myself more eloquently, but my brain’s not working today. 😶

@solarprogeny Aw, that's still so sweet!

You're not exactly right. Old Enka was essentially made to ressemble traditional Japanese music, so yes it was folk, but Modern Enka, which is what this song is named after, is not folk or Japanese-inspired, it is simply a "sentimental ballad" genre. Clearly this sound is a sentimal ballad, with a lot of Western influences.

That’s actually a cool observation
