Out Alive
Ke$ha Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I’m standing on my own two feet
Somewhere hanging in between
My life and the death of me

Fate doesn’t leave us time to waste
Weaving through the human race
‘Till we run out of air to breathe
But no one’s getting out alive
All the gold on earth, it won’t buy time
So we might as well give up the fight
Live it up tonight
No one’s getting out alive!
No one’s getting out alive!
No one’s getting out alive!

Life, a beautiful and fragile thing
Floating in the galaxy
I’m gonna let it set me free

Now is all we really ever have
Open your eyes and don’t look back
Now gimme something to believe

'Cause no one’s getting out alive
All the gold on earth, it won’t buy time
So we might as well give up the fight
Live it up tonight
No one’s getting out alive!
No one’s getting out alive!
No one’s getting out alive!

So no one’s getting out alive
All the gold on earth, it won’t buy time
So we might as well give up the fight
Live it up tonight
No one’s getting out alive!
No one’s getting out alive!
No one’s getting out alive!

No one’s getting out alive!
No one’s getting out alive!

Overall Meaning

In "Out Alive", Ke$ha takes a philosophical stance on the inevitability of death and the need to live life to the fullest. The opening lines suggest that she is standing at a crossroads, hanging "in between my life and the death of me". She realizes that our time on earth is limited and fate doesn't give us time to waste. Life is a journey that we weave through the human race until we run out of air to breathe. The chorus repeats the title phrase "No one's getting out alive", emphasizing the fact that death is a universal fate and there's no escaping it. The allusion to gold on earth not buying time is a wink at the superficiality of material possessions in the face of death. Therefore, Ke$ha gives this message that we should live it up tonight and embrace life fully while we still can because it's the only thing we truly have.

Ke$ha is way better than Frozen, Katy Perry, and Taylor Swift! I hope her fans help her overtake all of them like India will overtake Japan, USA, and China by 2050! I introduced my 2 cousins Eilee and Holland to Ke$ha's music and they love it. They say they like it more than Frozen. Because, I told them Frozen is terrible, and they think they will always like Frozen, and I said: "Not when you're a teenager." I then introduced them to Ke$ha's "Tik Tok" and "Stephen". Frozen really owes some checks to Ke$ha, The Smurfs, Doogal, and Oliver and Company!
In comparison to the military power of nations to the singing power of countries:
Ke$ha=Russia
Pitbull=India
Britney spears=China
Miley Cyrus=North Korea
Evanescence=Pakistan
In comparison to export economy of countries to popularity of the artists:
Frozen=China
Katy Perry=USA
Taylor Swift=Japan

IBeBradleyy Everyone is saying that this song wouldn't have been a hit, yet it sounds a LOT like Rihanna's We Found Love, and a bit like Calvin Harris' Summer, both of which have a lot of instrumental portions.
