This song is part of a movie called the greatest showman, if you see the movie you will understand everything and the stories of those ppl that were singing it, and those ppl in this song for the first time, they decided to show the world that they don’t care about whatever they say cuz this is them,and there is nothing to apologise for in being themselves, nd the sang it after the only person who showed them respect and love and made them all a family betrayed them cuz he was ashamed of their looks in front of his new rich friends and audience (that’s all I could explain sry 😅)

I wish I had heard this song back then, but now I can continue to spread this song's message to my children as they go to school and deal with cruel children. Them coming out of that door to face the judgement of people , the vocalization starting brought tears to my eyes. Don't cry from now on , crying makes you light but sometimes it's good to hide tears to make yourself feel who you are , whenever you feel like crying about some things wipe your tears and say I have to control I am strong I am brave . You will feel better. You will actually gain confidence. Because when you will cry on bullying so negative thoughts will come and say no to negative thoughts. Im the same way, plus, I'm autistic and adhd. I've grown up alone and isolated cause no one in school wanted to be my friend. I was the 'weird' one, the 'freak'. And the only people that were my friends weren't actually my friends, they would mock me behind my back, and make fun of me. That only contributed towards my social anxiety and low self worth which I still face to this day as my 24th birthday is coming up soon. But this song and movie have always been my comfort when I needed it. It's shown me that I can make a stand, I don't have to apologize to anyone for being me, I can just be, well, me. I can be myself. And eventually, I'll find the people who WILL care about me, who WILL support me, and WILL love me for who I am. Until then I'll stand up for myself and be me.
