-----
Keb' Mo' is one of the foremost contemporary blues artists. With an endearing sense of faith in humanity evident on most of his tracks and a very interestingly textured voice, this man has successfully merged traditional Delta blues and modern acoustic singer-songwritership. While it's a stretch to call him a traditionalist, Keb' Mo' plays a mean guitar, and the meticulously played guitar on each one of his songs is awe-inspiring.
After spending his early career backing blues artists up, he released his debut album in 1994. He also appeared in Scorsese's film about the blues. As the only man to my knowlege that has incorporated the word "internet" into a blues song, it is clear that Keb' Mo' is unique and has, in an unprecedented manner, carved out his own genre that never fails to make the listener smile.

On and off then on again
A little here and a little there
Holdin' steady at nowhere
I hesitated
I didn't mean to make you wait
My life was liberated
How far did I fall
All the way
I'm giving it all
Every day
How far will I go
All the way
I want you to know
I'm takin' it all the way
All the way All the way
I believe, Mr. Green
Let's stay together
We're like a heat wave and a love machine
Always and forever
Oh, the freedom,
The walls are crumbling down
And gone are the demons,
I found a sweet, soft place to hit the ground
How far did I fall
All the way
I'm giving it all
Every day
How far will I go
All the way
I want you to know
I'm takin' it all the way
All the way All the way
My old friends maybe and I don't know
Gotta say I'm not sorry to see them go
How far did I fall
All the way
I'm giving my all
Every day
How far will I go
All the way
I want you to know
I'm takin' it all the way
All the way
All the way
In Keb' Mo's song "All the Way," the lyrics speak of a person who is in a state of transition, teetering on the edge of making a major decision that could change the direction of their life. The first verse describes this limbo state of being, with the person having "one foot out, one foot in," and not being able to fully commit to anything. They are "on and off then on again" and "holdin' steady at nowhere." The person is uncertain and hesitant, causing them to make others wait and delaying their own ability to move forward.
However, in the chorus, there is a shift in tone. The person realizes that they need to take a leap of faith and fully commit to their decision. They are willing to give it their all, every day, and take it "all the way." They acknowledge that they may fall, but they are willing to take the risk and see it through. This decision brings them liberation and freedom, as the walls holding them back begin to crumble, and the "demons" holding them down disappear. They find a "sweet, soft place to hit the ground," which could be interpreted as finding comfort in their newfound sense of direction.
The bridge continues this sense of liberation, with the person declaring that they don't need their old friends who are holding them back. They are willing to say goodbye and move on, taking their newfound sense of self all the way.
Overall, the lyrics of "All the Way" speak to the universal experience of being stuck in a state of uncertainty and the need to take a leap of faith to move forward. The song recognizes the risk involved in taking that leap but celebrates the freedom and liberation that comes with fully committing to a decision.
