Deep In The Forest
Keenhouse Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Forest, forest
This is where we play
Forest, forest
Between the plants I have a little shelter
This is where I play, just left of what you see
Thoughts of freedom piled up
When I look behind all ground will disappear
endlessly lost where light turns off its glow
Left is high, what's right will be low
Still I want to see how we've met at all
Paint it black and white, write a poem on the stone
To brake it all down before you come around
Power to the soul and no one'll ever know
Where we hide at night
When I look behind all ground will disappear
endlessly lost where light turns off its glow
Left is high, what's right will be low
Still I want to see how we've met at all
Deep in the forest
This is where we play
Deep in the forest
Forest, forest
Deep in the forest
This is where we play
Deep in the forest
Forest, forest
Deep in the forest
This is where we play
Deep in the forest
Forest, forest
Deep in the forest
This is where we play
Deep in the forest
Forest, forest
The song "Deep In The Forest" by Keenhouse describes a safe space where the singer can play freely without any judgment or fear. The repeated line "This is where we play, forest, forest" represents the escapism that the singer feels within this setting. His little shelter is hidden, and behind his home is a great wall that symbolizes the barriers in our minds that limit our freedom. The lyrics express the desire to overcome these barriers and to see how we can connect with each other despite them.
The singer paints a picture of a space where he can write poems on stones and break down the barriers that hold him back. The use of black and white checkboxes represents the idea of categorization and how that can limit our creativity and thought process. The idea of hiding at night within the forest represents the safety and comfort that the singer feels in this space. The lines, "When I look behind all ground will disappear, endlessly lost where light turns off its glow, Left is high, what's right will be low," represent the singer's fear of losing his safe space and the fear of not being able to find his way back to safety.
Overall, the song portrays the importance of having a place where one can feel safe and free to be creative without fear of judgment. It also highlights the barriers that we create for ourselves and the desire to overcome them to connect with others.
