I enjoyed the groove of the song, and the different way KEIKO approached her vocals.
Lightening the weight of her tone and the timbre of her voice and going more heady? More of this! Loved her switch to head voice with vibrato on the top note at 2:20. The fact that she can do it and that she does do it in this song is a testament.
To all the Kalafina and FictionJunction fans, every singer needs to grow and be able to sing and use their voices in many ways. These ladies (including KEIKO) have been limited to singing in a particular way for so long, due to the nature of Yuki Kajiura's sonic landscape and how she writes for their vocals. Yuki Kajiura once said in an article I read, that Wakana, KEIKO, and Hikaru should not think they have yet reached the highest levels of singing but must always seek to improve themselves.
It was often Hikaru that experimented with her vocal production during Kalafina lives with varying results, but at least she experimented.
KEIKO has a lot of music in her that is not merely Kajiura-centric or anisong. Let's allow her to spread her wings and express the music she feels or at least try something different. And she sang well!
KEIKO, keep singing. There's still a lot in you to share!

@Christian Albert Jahns You know the structure they have in Japan is very strict and delineated. They are somewhat employed by the agencies and paid salaries so Wakana would not be able to just "jam" with FJ on her own without agency agreement on both sides, and her agency, Space Craft Produce, is the same one that Yuki Kajiura left under acrimonious circumstances. At least that's how I understand it. There seems to be some fan anger at Wakana for staying behind while the others left. I don't know about Yuriko Kaida's and Kaori's agency situation, though.
Christian Albert Jahns
@Olatunde Fajimi so it's Wakana who left FJ. interesting
Aleeeyra
@Olatunde Fajimi Yes, Yuki Kajiura wrote Hibari for ASCA. I love her, so if you happened to listen to her other songs you might realize that she sings differently. Perhaps she's also experimenting with her style since she's still young :)
Olatunde Fajimi
Aleeeyra I just went and listened to ASCA's "Hibari", and it definitely did seem to have that Kajiura-esque sonic flavor that felt so familiar. Did Yuki Kajiura write the song for ASCA or someone else who was inspired by her (Yuki)? ASCA's other songs were really different.

Christian Albert Jahns KEIKO's still with FictionJunction. She’s been performing with them since after leaving Kalafina. It’s Wakana that hasn’t been since she stayed behind at the same agency that Yuki Kajiura, KEIKO, and Hikaru left, after Kalafina was broken up.

Keiko é uma artista sensacional ❤❤❤😢
Tamiris Y.
I really miss her singing style from Kalafina, but I love the fact she is experimenting with her voice and having fun while growing as a singer ❤

Kalafinaの時の歌声と比べる人がいますが、それはナンセンス。
今、ソロだからこそ様々な表現力や可能性を育てられる時だと
思います。新たなKeikoさんの魅力が沢山湧き出て来ることを
応援しましょう♪
