98.6
Keith Lyrics

Good morning sun, I say it's good to see you shinin'
I know my baby brought you to me
She kissed me yesterday hello your silver linin'
Got spring and summer runnin' through me

Hey, 98.6, it's good to have you back again, oh
Hey, 98.6, her lovin' is the medicine that saved me
Oh, I love my baby

Hey everybody on the street, I see you smilin'
Must be because I found my baby
You know she's got me on another kind of highway
I want to go to where it takes me

Hey, 98.6, it's good to have you back again, oh
Hey, 98.6, her lovin' is the medicine that saved me
Oh, I love my baby

You know she's got me on another kind of highway
I want to go to where it takes me

Hey, 98.6, it's good to have you back again, oh

Hey, 98.6, her lovin' is the medicine that saved me
Oh, I love my baby

Overall Meaning

The song "98.6" by Keith is a cheerful and uplifting love song that expresses joy and gratitude towards the singer's partner. The lyrics are simple and straightforward but carry a clear message of love and appreciation. The singer starts by addressing the morning sun and commenting how good it is to see it shining. He then attributes the presence of the sun to his girlfriend who kissed him the day before, bringing light and happiness in his life. The next verse is a celebration of his girlfriend's love which is like medicine to him, curing any pain or sorrow he might have experienced. The chorus repeats the title of the song, "98.6," which specifies the normal human body temperature, signifying the singer's excitement and enthusiasm for being in love as his temperature rises. The final verse continues the singer's happy thoughts, noticing that everyone seems to be smiling at him, most likely because he has found true love. The song closes with the singer's desire to follow his girlfriend wherever she takes him, indicating his unwavering devotion and commitment to her.

One interesting fact about the song "98.6" is that it was released in 1967, a year known for its nostalgic rock music with a psychedelic twist. Keith's song stands out from its contemporaries with its upbeat and happy melody, ironic considering that the song talks of a fever caused by love. Another fascinating detail is that "98.6" was written by Tony Powers and George Fischoff. Fischoff was a well-known composer who wrote several hit songs in the '60s, including "Lazy Day" by Spanky and Our Gang. Powers was a poet and musician who also wrote several songs in that era, one of which was performed by Elvis Presley. The duo wrote the song as a metaphorical love letter to their respective girlfriends, with Powers remarking, "I wanted to write a song that was a tribute to the healing powers of love." A final interesting detail is that the song's original title was "98.6°," but when the songwriter approached Keith's producer about the song, he mistakenly left out the degree symbol, and the song became known as "98.6."

Chords (Capo 4th fret):

Proud to say my Grandfather is the drummer.

@freeguy77

I'm guessing your grandfather was...Bobby Gregg. Artie Butler on organ and piano, Vinnie Bell on guitar, Joe Macko on bass, and Keith--lead singer--born James Keefer on May 17, 1949, so he was only 17 on his two 1966 hits. Now, 67.
