Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Keith Emerson's song Inferno: Main Titles Theme appear to be a collection of Latin phrases that evoke a sense of darkness, mystery, and foreboding. The repeated phrases "Mater Suspirorum," "Lachrymarum," and "Tenebrarum" translate to "Mother of Sighs," "Tears," and "Darkness," respectively. These phrases are repeated throughout the song, as if calling upon some unseen force or summoning a powerful entity.

The repeated phrase "Ignis Vestis Magina Infernorum" translates to "A magical robe of fire from Hell," which may be interpreted as a metaphor for the intense and destructive power that lies within. The phrase "Amissio amictia Vacuus" means "Loss of friendship empty," suggesting a sense of isolation or emptiness.

The final lines of the song, "Matricidium Tenebrarum," may be translated to "The murder of darkness" or "The killing of shadows," further emphasizing the theme of destruction and chaos.

Overall, the lyrics to Inferno: Main Titles Theme create a sense of ominous and mystical power, drawing upon ancient Latin phrases to evoke a sense of darkness and danger.

This movie and soundtrack are so underated. The main theme is so beautiful, and Mater Tenebrarum is heavy metal. Also although the movie hasn't much plot, I think is an aestethic improvement from Suspiria, and that's a lot to say!

It's a shame that Mother of Tears, the third installment of the saga, was such a bad film.

Not a day goes by where I don’t think about Keith’s brilliance. One of only two celebrities whose death made me weep. Rest in peace, Maestro Emerson!
