Little Queenie
Keith Richards and Jerry Lee Lewis Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I got lumps in my throat
When I saw her comin' down the aisle
I got the wiggles in my knees
When she looked at me and sweetly smiled
Well there she is again
Standin' over by the record machine
Well she looks like a model
On the cover of a magazine
But she's too cute
To be a minute over seventeen

Meanwhile I was thinkin'

Well if she's in the mood
No need to break it
I got the chance and I oughta take it
If she can dance we can make it
C'mon queenie let's shake it

I said go, go, go, little queenie
I said go, go, go, little queenie
I said go, go, go, little queenie

Won't someone tell me
Who's the queen standin over by the record machine
Well she looks like a model
On the cover of a magazine
But she's too cute
To be a minute over seventeen
I said go, go, go, little queenie
I said go, go, go, little queenie
I said go, go, go, little queenie

Meanwhile, I was still thinkin', hmmmm,
Well if it's a slow one
We'll omit it
If it's a rocker, then we'll get it
If it's a good one, she'll admit it
C'mon queenie, let's get with it

I said go, go, go, little queenie
I said go, go, go, little queenie
I said go, go, go, little queenie

I said go, go, go, little queenie

I said go, go, go, little queenie
I said go, go, go, little queenie

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Keith Richards and Jerry Lee Lewis's song Little Queenie showcases the excitement of the singer upon seeing a young and attractive girl, whom he refers to as "Little Queenie." The song describes the singer's physical reaction to her as he gets "lumps in [his] throat" and "the wiggles in [his] knees" upon seeing her walk down the aisle. He sees her again standing by the record machine looking like a model, but he knows she can't be over seventeen.

As the song progresses, the singer encourages Little Queenie to dance with him and they can make it together. He sings "If it's a slow one, we'll omit it / If it's a rocker, then we'll get it / If it's a good one, she'll admit it / C'mon queenie, let's get with it." The song has an upbeat tempo, and the lyrics are suggestive of the singer's intentions to have a good time and dance with this young woman.

Overall, the lyrics suggest a fun and carefree moment between two people enjoying each other's company and a good song. However, the lyrics may raise eyebrows now, as the singer's intentions may come off as predatory.

Keith Richards is one of the best, if not the best, rythm guitar players to ever live!! He truely is the riff master....

Robert Bachor

Keith is the true life of rock and roll

laura millard

Everyone out there....relish every moment of Keith...I truly believe he alone, apart from being the greatest guitarist of modern times, has influenced music and attitude more than anyone I can think of.  He still gives me goosebumps!

bonkey dollocks

@Rydeman nothing to do with ability, he said influencial. Less is more. I've never listened to a bonamasser solo till the end, boring imo, , technically brilliant but what Keith does with three chords is pure feeling, rock n roll feeling.

Rydeman

No sense in arguing. Music is subjective.

@Rydeman Wrong.But thanks for playing.

@Rydeman And they are all amateurs compared to Richard Smith or Chet Atkins. Rock and roll is not a contest it's a team game.
