Days Go By
Keith Urban Lyrics

Oh yeah yeah
I'm changing lanes and talkin' on the phone
Drivin' way too fast.
And the interstate's jammed with gunners like me
Afraid of comin' in last.
We're coming undone
And days go by,
I can feel 'em flyin'
Like a hand out the window in the wind.
The cars go by,
Yeah it's all we've been given,
So you better start livin' right now
'Cause days go by,
Oh and a woo-hoo
Out on the roof just the other night
I watched the world flash by,
Headlights, taillights,
Running through a river of neon signs.
But somewhere in the rush I felt,
We're losing ourselves
And days go by,
I can feel 'em flyin'
Like a hand out the window in the wind.
The cars go by,
Yeah it's all we've been given,
So you better start livin' right now
Days go by,
Oh and a woo-hoo
Yeah the days go by
Oh and a woo-hoo
We think about tomorrow then it slips away.
Oh, yes, it does.
We talk about forever but we've only got today
And the days go by,
I can feel 'em flyin'
Like a hand out the window as the cars go by
Yeah it's all we've been given,
So you better start livin',
You better start livin',
Better start livin' right now!
'Cause days go by,
I can feel 'em flyin'
Like a hand out the window in the wind.
The cars go by,
Yeah it's all we've been given,
So you better start livin' right now
'Cause days go by,
Oh and a woo-hoo
Yeah these days go by
Oh and a woo-hoo
Oh!
So take 'em by the hand,
They're yours and mine.
Take 'em by the hand,
And live your life.
Take 'em by the hand,
Don't let 'em all fly by!
Come on, come on now,
Yeah!
Come on now!
Oh and a woo-hoo!
Don't you know the days go by
The song "Days Go By" by Keith Urban is about the passage of time and the importance of living in the present moment. The lyrics describe the rush of everyday life, with people driving fast and talking on their phones, trying to keep up with the competition. But despite this frantic speed, the song suggests that we are all losing ourselves and missing out on precious moments. The chorus repeats the phrase "days go by" to emphasize how quickly time is passing and how important it is to pay attention to what is happening around us.
The first verse describes the singer driving fast and feeling the pressure to stay ahead of everyone else. He recognizes that everyone else is doing the same thing and no one wants to be left behind. The second verse describes the singer watching the world go by from the roof and feeling like he is losing himself in the rush. The bridge suggests that people often focus on the future, but time passes by too quickly and we need to take advantage of what we have right now.
Overall, the song is a reminder to slow down and appreciate the present moment. It encourages listeners to take control of their own lives and to make the most of the time they have. The phrase "days go by" becomes a mantra, reminding us that time is precious and shouldn't be wasted.
Line by Line Meaning
I'm changing lanes and talkin' on the phone
I'm a distracted driver who is putting myself and others in danger
Drivin' way too fast
I'm in a rush and not considering the consequences of my actions
And the interstate's jammed with gunners like me
Everyone else is also rushing to get somewhere, and we're all competing to get ahead
Afraid of comin' in last
I don't want to be left behind or lose out to others in the race
But somewhere in the race we run,
Amidst the chaos of the daily grind,
We're coming undone
We're feeling overwhelmed and disconnected from ourselves and our true desires
And days go by,
Time keeps moving forward,
I can feel 'em flyin'
I'm aware that time is passing and life is happening quickly
Like a hand out the window in the wind.
It's beyond our control or grasp, like air passing through our fingertips
The cars go by,
We see others living their lives and moving forward, even if we are stuck in one place
Yeah it's all we've been given,
Life is finite and change is inevitable
So you better start livin' right now
We must embrace each moment and take control of our lives
Out on the roof just the other night
I took a moment to step away and reflect on my life
I watched the world flash by,
I gained a new perspective on the fleeting nature of life
Headlights, taillights,
The movement of others around me
Running through a river of neon signs.
The vibrancy and energy of the world around us
But somewhere in the rush I felt,
Despite the chaos, there is still room for introspection and self-awareness
We're losing ourselves
We are becoming disconnected from our true selves and what we really want in life
We think about tomorrow then it slips away.
Our plans and dreams for the future often don't come to fruition
We talk about forever but we've only got today
Our time is limited, and it's important to make the most of every moment
So take 'em by the hand,
Seize the moment and take control of our lives
They're yours and mine.
We are all responsible for our own lives and the way we choose to live them
And live your life.
Embrace life and all its joys and challenges
Don't let 'em all fly by!
Don't waste your life and let it pass you by
Come on, come on now,
Urging us to take action and live life to the fullest
Yeah!
An expression of enthusiasm and excitement
Don't you know the days go by
A reminder that time is passing and we should not waste it

I remember waking up to this song in the morning when I’d get ready for school, because my mom would blast the radio in the bathroom that shared a wall with my room. I love this song so much. ❤

I remember this song when I came home from work my sister which is now with with the angels. She was always listening to CMT and this would always be playing on my TV. I lost her in 2016. She was my best friend! She is now with God in heaven.
