Boothe seemed, at the time, to have the makings of an international, long-lasting, hit maker, certainly when compared to most of the other latter-day reggae acts. His smoother style gave him a wider appeal, rather like UB40 and Aswad. Boothe's choice of songs also showed the breadth of his musical taste. But for all that, he only managed one more hit in the UK Chart, "Crying over You", which made Number 11.
In more recent times, Boothe has also recorded for Bunny Lee, Phil Pratt, King Jammy, Pete Weston, Jack Ruby, Hugh "Red Man" James, Castro Brown, and Tappa Zukie. Plus in 1995, he teamed up with Shaggy, for a new styled version of his old track, "The Train Is Coming", which appeared on the soundtrack of the film, Money Train.
A double-disc overview of Boothe's Trojan years, Crying over You, was released by the label in 2001.

Evil Girl
Ken Boothe Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Causing the friction everywhere
But i want have you know
Your crimes ain't gonna pay
Saying you're a good thing
But i know you're bad
And your evil ways
Gonna make your ending sad
(You're evil)
I know your kind
(Deep down in your soul)
Here to pollute some weakned mind
(You're evil)
I know your kind
(Deep down in your soul)
Here to pollute some weakned mind
I know your kind
Oh evil girl
Going around
Causing the friction everywhere
But i want have you know
Your crimes ain't gonna pay
Saying you're a good thing
But i know you're bad
And your evil ways
Gonna make your ending sad
Oh evil girl
Oh evil girl
You make me mad
You make me sad
You make me feel mad
Oh evil girl
You came to nothing right
You always do something wrong
Oh evil girl
Ken Boothe's song "Evil Girl" is a cautionary tale about a woman who goes around causing troubles and leaving destruction in her wake. The singer of the song seems to have been at the receiving end of this woman's malevolent ways and is warning others to steer clear of her. However, despite her negative actions, the woman in question seems to have convinced herself and others that she is a good person. Ken Boothe sings "Saying you're a good thing, but I know you're bad / And your evil ways gonna make your ending sad." The chorus repeating "You're evil / I know your kind / Deep down in your soul / Here to pollute some weakened mind" is a direct warning to this evil girl.
The lyrics suggest that this woman is a master manipulator who preys on people's weaknesses and vulnerabilities. Ken Boothe seems to be making the point that it's not just the physical harm she causes that makes her evil but also the psychological damage she inflicts on others. The refrain "You make me mad, you make me sad, you make me feel mad" alludes to this idea. Overall, the song emphasizes the importance of recognizing and resisting toxic people and their negative influence, and how such people can come in various guises and not necessarily fit the stereotypical image of a villain.
