Boothe seemed, at the time, to have the makings of an international, long-lasting, hit maker, certainly when compared to most of the other latter-day reggae acts. His smoother style gave him a wider appeal, rather like UB40 and Aswad. Boothe's choice of songs also showed the breadth of his musical taste. But for all that, he only managed one more hit in the UK Chart, "Crying over You", which made Number 11.
In more recent times, Boothe has also recorded for Bunny Lee, Phil Pratt, King Jammy, Pete Weston, Jack Ruby, Hugh "Red Man" James, Castro Brown, and Tappa Zukie. Plus in 1995, he teamed up with Shaggy, for a new styled version of his old track, "The Train Is Coming", which appeared on the soundtrack of the film, Money Train.
A double-disc overview of Boothe's Trojan years, Crying over You, was released by the label in 2001.

Let the teardrops fall
Let the teardrops fall
Let the teardrops fall from your eyes
Let the teardrops fall
Let the teardrops fall
Let the teardrops fall from your eyes
You never miss your water
'Til your well runs dry
'Til your well runs dry, brothers and sisters
You never miss your water
'Til your well runs dry
'Til your well runs dry, brothers and sisters
So let the teardrops fall
Let the teardrops fall
Let the teardrops fall from your eyes
Let the teardrops fall
Let the teardrops fall
Let the teardrops fall from your eyes
Now that you're all alone
And you have no one to call your own
You're taking up your telephone
Begging me to come home
But listen, my friend
I'll never make that mistake again
'Cause you don't need me as a friend
So let the teardrops fall
Let the teardrops fall
Let the teardrops fall from your eyes
Let the teardrops fall
Let the teardrops fall
Let the teardrops fall from your eyes
Let the teardrops fall
Let the teardrops fall
Let the teardrops fall from your eyes
Let the teardrops fall
Let the teardrops fall
Let the teardrops fall from your eyes
Now that you're all alone
And you have no one to call your own
You're taking up your telephone
Begging me to come home
But listen, my friend
I'll never make that mistake again
'Cause you don't want me as a friend
So let the teardrops fall
Let the teardrops fall
Let the teardrops fall from your eyes
Let the teardrops fall
Let the teardrops fall
Let the teardrops fall from your eyes
In Ken Boothe's song "Let The Water Run Dry," the lyrics convey a message of realization and regret. The repeating line, "You never miss your water 'til your well runs dry," serves as the central theme of the song. It speaks to the idea that we often fail to appreciate someone or something until we have lost it.
The lyrics urge the listener to let their tears flow freely, emphasizing the cathartic nature of expressing emotions. By allowing the teardrops to fall from their eyes, the listener is encouraged to confront and acknowledge their own pain and regret. Boothe sings, "Let the teardrops fall from your eyes," emphasizing the need to experience and process these emotions.
The second half of the song shifts the focus to the perspective of the singer, who is being begged to come back by the person who once took their presence for granted. Despite the pleas for reconciliation, the singer has come to understand that they were never truly valued as a friend. They have learned from the experience and vow to never make the same mistake again.
Overall, "Let The Water Run Dry" invites introspection and contemplation of one's actions and relationships. It serves as a reminder to appreciate and cherish what we have before it's too late.
