Boothe seemed, at the time, to have the makings of an international, long-lasting, hit maker, certainly when compared to most of the other latter-day reggae acts. His smoother style gave him a wider appeal, rather like UB40 and Aswad. Boothe's choice of songs also showed the breadth of his musical taste. But for all that, he only managed one more hit in the UK Chart, "Crying over You", which made Number 11.
In more recent times, Boothe has also recorded for Bunny Lee, Phil Pratt, King Jammy, Pete Weston, Jack Ruby, Hugh "Red Man" James, Castro Brown, and Tappa Zukie. Plus in 1995, he teamed up with Shaggy, for a new styled version of his old track, "The Train Is Coming", which appeared on the soundtrack of the film, Money Train.
A double-disc overview of Boothe's Trojan years, Crying over You, was released by the label in 2001.

Say you...
Say you'll never leave me again
Say you'll never deceive me again
Say you'll never love no other one but me
Me
Say you...
Say you...
Say you'll never walk out on me again
Say you'll come back and be my best friend
Say you'll never love no other one but me
Me
Say you...
Say you...
Say you'll never walk out on me again
Say you'll come back and be my best friend
Say you'll never love no other one but me
Me
Say you...
Say, honey
Say you...
Come on, honey
Say you...
The lyrics to Ken Boothe's "Say You" express a plea to a lost love to stay and never leave again. The singer begs the person to never deceive or love anyone else but them. They express the pain of being left and their fear of being left again. The repetition of "Say you..." emphasizes the desperate need for reassurance and a promise of commitment.
The lyrics also touch upon the desire for a deep friendship with the person, beyond just romantic love. The singer wants this person to be their best friend and a constant presence in their life. The repetition of "Me" throughout the song shows the selfishness of the singer's plea, as they are solely concerned with their own happiness and security.
Overall, the lyrics convey a sense of vulnerability and desperation. The singer is willing to compromise their pride and independence for the sake of the relationship. The chorus's simplicity and repetition make it a catchy and memorable plea, highlighting the universal fear of abandonment and the human need for reassurance in relationships.
