Boothe seemed, at the time, to have the makings of an international, long-lasting, hit maker, certainly when compared to most of the other latter-day reggae acts. His smoother style gave him a wider appeal, rather like UB40 and Aswad. Boothe's choice of songs also showed the breadth of his musical taste. But for all that, he only managed one more hit in the UK Chart, "Crying over You", which made Number 11.
In more recent times, Boothe has also recorded for Bunny Lee, Phil Pratt, King Jammy, Pete Weston, Jack Ruby, Hugh "Red Man" James, Castro Brown, and Tappa Zukie. Plus in 1995, he teamed up with Shaggy, for a new styled version of his old track, "The Train Is Coming", which appeared on the soundtrack of the film, Money Train.
A double-disc overview of Boothe's Trojan years, Crying over You, was released by the label in 2001.

You
Ken Boothe Lyrics

I treated you bad
And wrong my dear
And girl since,
Since you been away
Dontcha know
I sit around
with my head hangin' down
Who's lovin you
I, I, I, I should have never ever
Ever made you cry
And girl since
Since you been gone
Dontcha know
I sit around
with my head hangin' down
And I wonder
Who's lovin you
Life without love
Is oh so lonely
I dont think
I dont think
I'm gonna make it
All my life
All my life, yeah
belongs to you only
Come on and take it girl
Come on and take it!
Because,
All I can do
All I can do
Since you been gone is cry
And you, oooh
Dontcha know I
Sit around
With my head hangin down
And I wonder
Who's lovin' you
(Who's lovin you)
Who's lovin you.....
The lyrics of Ken Boothe’s ‘You’ describe the regret and longing of a man who has lost the love of his life. The first stanza expresses the singer’s remorse over mistreating his lover and causing her pain. He realizes he was wrong to treat her badly and wishes he had behaved differently. The repeated use of “since you been away” underscores the depth of his loss and emphasizes his sadness. The singer then wonders who might be caring for his former love since he is no longer able to do so.
The second stanza amplifies the singer’s pain and sense of loneliness. He acknowledges that life without love is unbearable and that he is struggling to cope. He confesses that he is crying every day and still wondering who might be filling the void left by his former love. The repeated use of “oooh” creates an evocative and mournful tone that accentuates the deep sadness and longing of the singer.
In summary, the lyrics of ‘You’ are a poignant and heartfelt lament for lost love. The words convey the pain and regret of a man who realizes too late that he has let the love of his life slip away.
