I
Ken Dodd Lyrics

Each time I look at you is like the first time
Each time you're near me the thrill is new
And there is nothing that I wouldn't do for
The rare delight of the sight of you for

The more I see you, the more I want you
Somehow this feeling just grows and grows
With every sigh I become more mad about you
More lost without you and so it goes
Can you imagine how much I love you?
The more I see you as years go by
I know the only one for me can only be you
My arms won't free you, my heart won't try

I know the only one for me can only be you
My arms won't free you, my heart won't try

The greatest, most talented comedian and entertainer who ever lived...not one swear word. R.I.P. Doddy.

Steve Wardman

What does swearing or not swearing have to do with being funny? I can never understand this point when people try to make it.

armstrong germany

Absolutely. I wish I had made the effort to see one of his shows live.

@isobar I saw him in pantomime but never realised until I watched this video what an amazing singer he was

isobar

@chris . Me too, seen him in Blackpool many years ago, the jokes were coming so fast I nearly choked. Bought his record 'Eight by ten', he had a great operatic voice. As I've said, he was the greatest all rounder ...his talent will never be equaled...in my opinion.

chris

@isobar I remember watching him on stage - he engaged the ordinary audience as much as he did the ones in these presentations - and we all had tickling sticks

There will never ever be another Ken Dodd, the greats are all gone now.

Knowing him this went on far longer than the recorded show, he's well known for his shows going on well into the early hours. I think he did a show in London, midnight went past and he's still on stage with the audience rolling in the aisles laughing themselves silly. A sheer force of humour . The jokes come so thick and fast you don't get a moment to relax.....brilliant

Fuck me if your not in a fantastic mood after one of his shows, your a corpse.....

@LittleNoiseBoy I remember doing some work for Roy Vasey with dad, just painting his house. Had us in stitches as we talked and joked about. Very good drummer, decent on the piano too

Doddy was a force to be reckoned with, hell of a singer too. He and his ilk are a long ignored entertainer, can do anything and make the audience laugh and weep with ease.
Fond memories is all we have of them now,
a shame really as he's still so funny I end up crying in fits of giggles.

LittleNoiseBoy

Had the tremendous good fortune to work in theatres when Ken Dodd was appearing. He was the most humble and wonderful man. And kept us all laughing for hours and hours. I think he genuinely just loved making his audience happy. A tickling stick from the esteemed Mr Dodd is one of my most treasured possessions... so lucky to have had the opportunity to witness the master at work...
