This is my favorite song of all time.
I saw another comment on here, credit goes to them, who said this song feels like a hug to someone that is deprived of one or something along those lines, and I feel like that perfectly describes how I feel about this song. The vibe is perfect, the singing from Kendrick, Blxst, and Amanda is immaculate. And the lyrics…oh my god. It’s not very often when a song that nearly everyone can relate to is written, the only other song I can think of where everyone can relate is Family Business by Kanye. Everyone goes through shit in their life, whether it be something small that may not be that deep in the long run to trauma that has haunted them their entire life. We’ve all made mistakes in our life. We’re all scared to open up. However, our strive to overcome our demons and become the best people we can be defines us for who we are. The message of the song is so powerful and has never failed to cheer me up in my darkest hours. I won’t get too into it but this song no lies has saved and changed my life. Thank you Kendrick Lamar for releasing the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard on both a lyrical and sonic level, and thank you to the writers and producers for making this song.

This song can be interpreted in so many ways. For me, this song really relates to where I am in life. I've been in this relationship where we broke up for a few months but were in touch for about 2-3 years and got back together. A couple days ago he told me that ignorance is bliss. A few things he told me that stuck with me was "I'm in love with a future version of you that's not here yet." "I love you romantically" "You shouldn't be so vulnerable and wear your heart on your sleeve, it makes you easy to manipulate, I'm not a terrible person so I wouldn't do that but still." "I feel no matter what I do you'd still be there. I feel like I can burn down your house and you'd take me back and forgive me" "I think you should take some space and figure yourself out and learn to live for yourself"

This song spoke to me. Cause I've been working on not letting myself down and switching things around for myself. I'm such an emotional personal and love hard and it's not easy to open to a potential partner so it's scary when I do. And since I have and I feel like it's not going well the whole part about waiting for your call and how'd I get so lost spoke to me. It spoke to me from so many angles. This song has been on repeat all day while I ponder my next steps in life, self improvement, fighting my past, and debating on whether I should let my partner go or attempt to trust them despite them not being in love with the current me but my future potential. And then I don't want to let myself down. Song cuts deep

I feel you. My first thought is, how does this person know what your potential is? Do they just have a vision of who THEY want you to be? And what happens if you don't turn into the person they want you to be? Will there be a lot of resentment and heartache then? Obviously your path is yours to walk but how comfortable will you be feeling like you're on someone else's dime all the time? Coming to terms with yourself is something that can't be rushed and can't really be done with someone looking over your shoulder. And would you stay with a person like that in the hope that you finally meet their standards one day and receive their love? Maybe this person is amazing and worth the investment. Don't forget that the love you have to give comes from within you and you can direct that love towards yourself. As the Buddha once said - no one else is more deserving of it.

The level of introspection you have, to go deep with yourself and even recognize what you need to improve/ release is remarkable... You are right where you need to be, grow through it all, whatever hurt or pain. You can rise from it all and be the best you, every day, and every step of the way, to the woman you wish to be, not the woman someone desires you to be. You have to live and love yourself first, cause you are the only one that lives in your head and within your body. You are so sweet, don’t change that for anyone. Let your intuition and gut guide you, I’m learning to do this myself. We are all working on aspects of ourselves that need improvement and it doesn’t stop. Keep shinning 🌟
