Daddy's Back
Kenny Loggins Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You... hiding in shadowy blue
Somebody's come for you.
You're due to come alive

I... I'm getting you ready to fly
Tell all your friends bye bye
You're leaving here with me
You better believe

Bring it outside
Gonna go for a ride
Cause I'm back, Babe
I can see an end to Daddy's days as a rollling stone

Hold on my dear
We'll be breezing from here
'Cause I'm back, Babe

Good days are here again
Your daddy's back again
Oh, oh, oh, oh

Darlin' we've finally come true
Tell em how it's just me and you
And it's near I feel it comin'
Dear let's keep it comin' on yeah, yeah

Bring it outside
Goin' go for a ride
'Cause I'm back, Babe
I can see an end to Daddy's days as a rollling stone

Hold on my dear
We'll be breezing from here
'Cause I'm back, Babe
Good days are here again

You're daddy's home again
Good days are here again
Your daddy's home again
Good days are here your daddy's back oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh

Hold on my dear
We'll be breezing from here
'Cause I'm back, Babe
I got everything that you need

Lover stand by me
I come back, Babe
I come back, Babe
Daddy's oh yeah

I come back, Babe

Daddy's back, Babe
Daddy's back

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Kenny Loggins's song "Daddy's Back" seem to be about a father who was once a "rolling stone," perhaps someone who was not present in their child's life. However, now the father has returned and is ready to take their child away, possibly to start a new life together. The lyrics suggest that the child is hesitant at first, but the father is encouraging them to come out of the shadows and embrace the new opportunities that await them.

The first verse sets the tone for the rest of the song, as the child is described as hiding in "shadowy blue." The father has come to take them away, and they are "due to come alive." The second verse solidifies this idea as the father gets the child "ready to fly" and tells them to say goodbye to their friends. The chorus reinforces the message that the father is back and ready to start a new chapter in their lives.

The bridge of the song is particularly important, as it suggests that this is a chance for the father and child to finally have the relationship they've always wanted. The lyric "we've finally come true" is very powerful, as it suggests that the father is fulfilling a promise they made a long time ago.

Overall, "Daddy's Back" is a song about redemption and new beginnings. The father has made mistakes in the past, but now he's ready to make things right and start fresh with his child.

This album was incredible! Every song on it was amazing! The incomparable Kenny Loggins!

nonya business

The drummer's timing is impeccable. I like to put this song on when I'm just starting to clean the house. I start kinda slow and then i"m dancing and getting every inch of my living room dusted while singing, shaking and dusting at the same time with a huge smile on my face.
