I'm Alright
Kenny Loggins Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Nobody worry 'bout me
Why you got to gimme a fight?
Can't you just let it be?
I'm alright
Don't nobody worry 'bout me
You got to gimme a fight
Do what you like,
Doing it naturally
But if it's too easy
They're gonna disagree
It's your life
And isn't it a mystery
If it's nobody's business
It's everybody's game
Gotta catch you later
No, no, cannonball it right away
Some Cinderella kid
Get it up and get you a job
(Dip dip dip dip dip dip dip dip)
I'm alright
Nobody worry 'bout me
Why you got to gimme a fight?
Can't you just let it be?
I'm alright
Don't nobody worry 'bout me
You got to gimme a fight
Why don't you just let me be
Who do you want?
Who you be today?
And who is it really
Makin' up your mind?
You want to listen to the man?
Pay attention to the magistrate
And while I got you in the mood
Listen to your
Own heart beatin'
Own heart beatin'
Own heart beatin'
Own heart beatin'
Don't it get you movin'
Man
It make me feel good
(Wow, Cinderella kid)
Then give it up and give it the job
(Dip dip dip dip dip dip dip dip)
(Boom, boom, boom, boom)
I'm alright
Nobody worry 'bout me
Why you got to gimme a fight?
Can't you just let it be?
I'm alright
Don't nobody worry 'bout me
You got to gimme a fight
Why don't you just let me be
I'm alright
Nobody worry 'bout me
Why you got to gimme a fight?
Can't you just let it be?
I'm alright
I'm alright
Just let me be
The opening verses and chorus of "I'm Alright" by Kenny Loggins are an invitation to be left alone: "Nobody worry 'bout me," Loggins sings with an insistent, upbeat tone. "Why you got to gimme a fight? Can't you just let it be?" The song is, according to many interpretations, a call towards empowerment and self-determination, urging people to trust their own choices and to move forward, unencumbered by conflict, doubt, or judgement. The lyrics are an amalgamation of messages intended to inspire confidence and courage, urging listeners to do what they want, follow their instincts, and trust their own judgement instead of second-guessing or seeking external validation. These themes come through clearly in the lyrics' repeated refrain: "I'm alright, don't nobody worry 'bout me/You got to gimme a fight, why don't you just let me be?"
The song's overall message is one of self-affirmation and self-expression, reminding listeners that they have the right to live their lives as they choose rather than being dictated to by others or by social conventions. Loggins suggests that listeners can pursue their passions and take risks without fear of being judged or criticized. Their lives should not be subject to the approval or disapproval of others and "it's [their] life." The song also emphasizes the vanity of trying to please others and the necessity of embracing one's own identity and destiny, because "if it's nobody's business, it's everybody's game."

Kenny loggins has touched so many pieces of media. Regular show, top gun movies, caddyshack, pretty sure The Simpsons, and he even played himself as a radio host in GTA5. This man is incredible. I cannot believe he isn't in the rock and roll hall of Fame.

The rock n roll hall of fame is a circus. He doesn't need to be in it to have validation.
