Using his own contacts in the record business, Shepherd's father and manager, Ken Shepherd, helped his son land a major-label record deal with Giant Records. In 1995, his debut album was entitled Ledbetter Heights and featured original material and a few covers.
He recently converted to Catholicism and overcame an addiction problem, and that's become a theme of his current work. He is married to Hannah Gibson, daughter of Actor Mel Gibson.

Blame, blame who you gonna blame
It ain't your fault, it's never your fault
Looks like you got framed ?
You got a cryin' shame
Run, run where you wanna run
I won't be waitin', nobody's waitin'
I've known your evil ways
You got a cryin' shame
You got a cryin' shame
Oh, woo
Beg, beg if you wanna beg
Bad, baby, you made that bad
And I was solid for you, so solid for you
That doesn't change a thing
You got a cryin' shame
And you got a cryin' shame
You got a cryin' shame
You got a cryin' shame
You gonna cry, yeah
People will cry, you're next
The lyrics to Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band's "Shame" are about a person who is being accused of something they didn't do. The first verse refers to how the person is being blamed and framed for something that isn't their fault. The line "It ain't your fault, it's never your fault, looks like you got framed?" suggests that the person is being falsely accused of a crime or wrongdoing. The chorus repeats the line "You got a cryin' shame," which can be interpreted as a way of saying that the person is being pitied or looked down upon because of the accusations against them.
The second verse continues with the theme of running away from the accusations and not taking responsibility for what has happened. The line "I won't be waitin', nobody's waitin'," could mean that the singer is tired of waiting for the accused person to own up to their mistakes and is ready to move on without them. The third verse speaks to the person's attempts to beg for forgiveness, but the singer is not interested in hearing it. The line "Bad, baby, you made that bad" suggests that the person's actions have consequences that they must face.
Overall, the song is about the consequences of not taking responsibility for one's actions and how it can lead to a "cryin' shame." The lyrics suggest that it is important to own up to mistakes and take responsibility for one's actions, rather than running away or blaming others for what has happened.
