Kent Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Du somnar in
Ditt huvud tätt mot rutan
Och vid din kind
fladdrar imman som en dröm
Jag blinkar till
Tårar kan jag vara utan
Men för din skull
så gör jag vad som helst

Vi räknar dagar, räknar år
En skymt av solen doft av vår
Snart kommer regnet som en våg
Och sköljer bort
Allt som inte är musiken

Tellement loin de ce monde
Tellement loin de ce monde
Tellement loin de ce monde

Jai perdu mes repères
(övers: Jag har förlorat mina orienteringspunkter)
Je nage en eau trouble
(övers: Jag simmar i grumligt vatten)

Overall Meaning

The first few lines of Kent’s song FF, which means “so far from this world” in French, paint a serene picture of a peaceful night in the midst of nature. The singer describes small white lights, similar to stars glimmering amongst the trees. But as the song progresses, the lyrics take a darker turn. The singer describes glimpses of dark houses and motorways as they travel through cities. Despite this, he maintains a steady pulse, a sense of determination to keep going for the sake of the person he is with. They are counting the days and the years, waiting for the rain to wash away everything that is not music.

As the song develops, the singer expresses a strong sense of loyalty towards the person he is with. He watches her sleeping, her head resting against the window. He blinks away tears, knowing that he would do anything for her. The lyrics imply that they are traveling somewhere far away from everything familiar, somewhere so far removed from this world that the singer has lost his orientation. But ultimately, he finds a sense of clarity in the presence of this person, someone who allows him to breathe again.

Overall, the lyrics of FF paint a picture of the power of human connection and the ability of a single person to bring solace and clarity in times of turmoil.

Small white light
Only stars between the trees
I see dark houses
and highways rail
A steady pulse
Over bridges through cities
And for your sake
then we will travel again

We count days, counting years
A glimpse of the sun's smell of spring
Soon it will be considered a wave
And rinsing away
everything that is not the music ...

@kasper5433

Flimsy distant lights
Only stars between the timber
I see gloomy homes,
and motoroads, and rails
A steady pulse
Cross these bridges
Through these cities
And for thy sake
We journey one more time

We count these days
We count these years
A peek of Sun
A scent of Spring
But in a moment comes the rain
that wipes away
Everything that isn't
Music

You drift to sleep
Head pressed against
the window
And by your cheek
Fog flicker like a dream
I wink my eyes
tears are never necessary
But for thy sake
I do what it will take

We count these days
We count these years
A peek of Sun
A scent of Spring
In a moment there rain
that wipes away
Everything that isn't
Music

Small white candles
Just stars between the trees
I see dark houses
and highways rails
A steady pulse
Across bridges through cities
And for your sake
then we travel again
We count days, count years
A glimpse of the sun scent of spring
Soon the rain comes like a wave
And rinse off
all that is not music
Tellingly loin of this world
(over: So far away from this world)
Tellingly loin of this world
Tellingly loin of this world
You fall asleep
Your head close to the window
And by your cheek
the fog flutters like a dream
I blink
Tears I can be without
But for your sake
so I do anything
We count days, count years
A glimpse of the sun scent of spring
Soon the rain comes like a wave
And rinse off
Anything that is not music
Tellingly loin of this world

Kent is probably the best swedish band after ABBA. They managed to make music of this very swedish/finnish melancoly. And made it sound like french poetry.

@springformband

What about Ståålfågel? Where would you place them?

@furbees2662

@finskiproductions

One of the reasons to learn and speak Swedish. I mean, Kent´s songs are so awesome.
