Bulletproof
Kerli Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Just a simple touch,
Just a little glance
Makes me feel like flyin'.
But where are you tonight?
Something isn't right,
Can you please stop hiding?

I'm trying not to think about
All the things you did before,
But sometimes it all just gets to me.
I can't take it anymore.
I'll stay with you,
But remember to
Be careful what you do,
Cause I'm not bulletproof.

In your secret place,
Staring into space,
Leaves me feeling frozen.
I just need to feel, that what we have is real.
And I'm the one you've chosen.

I'm trying not to think about
All the things you did before,
But sometimes it all just gets to me.
I'll stay with you,
But remember to be careful what you do be
Cause I'm not bulletproof.

I'm trying not to think about
All the things you did before,
But sometimes it all just gets to me.
I can't take it anymore.
I'll stay with you,
But remember to
Be careful what you do,
Cause I'm not bulletproof.

And I'm not bulletproof
And I'm not bulletproof

I'm not bulletproof [Repeat until end]

Overall Meaning

Kerli's song "Bulletproof" revolves around the theme of vulnerability and trust in a relationship. The opening verse sets the scene for the song; the singer is in need of her lover's presence and attention, even the tiniest bit of affection, which makes her feel on top of the world. Yet, the memory of past actions of her lover trouble her, and she's trying not to dwell on them, but it's challenging for her at times. The chorus of the song reveals the apprehension the singer feels while being in a romantic relationship, as she is not confident about being strong enough to handle any hurt or betrayal being thrown her way.

In the second verse, the singer talks about her yearning to feel their love is real and the reassurance of being chosen by her lover. She admits that being left alone with her thoughts and doubts leaves her numb and in need of affection once again. In the end, the singer repeats the phrase "I'm not bulletproof" as a warning to her lover that despite her genuine love, she may not be able to keep up with the emotional turmoil that often accompanies a long-term relationship.
