" Biography
Avant-Garde, mystical, and magical are just some of the ways her fans describe KERLI’s music. As Estonia’s most successful music export, this unique artist has defied genre and created a musical world all her own; an eclectic style, drawing on a wide range of influences such as electronic, pop, goth, and experimental.
Her debut album, "Love Is Dead", in 2008 which charted on the Billboard 200. The lead single, "Walking on Air," was featured as the iTunes single of the week where it was downloaded over 500,000 times, a record at that time.
Her 2nd album Utopia also charted on Billboard 200. Singles "Army of Love", Zero Gravity", and "The Lucky Ones" entered the top 10 Billboard Hot Dance, two of them peaking at number 1. A song co-written by KERLI for Utopia, "Skyscraper" was recorded by Demi Lovato and become one of Demi’s biggest hits.
In 2016, she released 3 independent singles, while teaming up with the government of Estonia to art direct a tourism campaign designed to promote the otherworldly nature of her country.
Spending most of her creative time in the deep forests of Estonia, KERLI’s evolution as an artist has paralleled her curiosity as a human, exploring the relationship between nature, mysticism, and technology. All of which will be part of her most diverse and eclectic body of work on an upcoming album, titled ‘Shadow Works’, set to release in Feb 2019 on MrSuicideSheep's imprint Seeking Blue"
Many new worlds and characters will be revealed in 2023, starting with a dangerously cute realm of a pink robot named Joy, here to make a big colorful splash on the apocalypse-stricken planet Earth.

I'm in trouble,
Got me powered-up,
On the double.
Ooh-ooh-ooh
If you wanna do, what I wanna do,
Then we're going down down down.
If you've gonna do what I wanna do,
Then we're going down down down.
And if you feel like I feel,
Put your hearts up,
Put your hearts up.
Yeah, we got love, designed to kill,
Put your hearts up,
Put your hearts up.
You can't control the kids,
You can't control the kids,
You can't control the kids,
Put your hearts up.
You can't control the kids,
You can't control the kids,
You can't control the kids,
Put your hearts up.
You can't control the kids!
You can't control...
Bass drum overload,
Your decision,
Lift me off the ground,
Be my ignition.
Ooh-ooh-ooh
If you wanna do, what I wanna do,
Then we're going down down down.
Ooh-ooh-ooh
If you've gonna do what I wanna do,
Then we're going down down down.
If you feel like I feel,
Put your hearts up,
Put your hearts up.
Yeah, we got love, designed to kill,
Put your hearts up,
Put your hearts up.
You can't control the kids,
You can't control the kids,
You can't control the kids,
Put your hearts up.
You can't control the kids,
You can't control the kids,
You can't control the kids,
Put your hearts up.
You can't control the kids,
You can't control the kids,
You can't control the kids,
You can't control the kids,
You can't control the kids,
You can't control the kids.
The lyrics of Kerli's song "Can't Control the Kids" express the idea of youth rebelling against societal expectations and norms. The opening lines "If you're a bad influence, I'm in trouble, got me powered-up, on the double" suggest that the singer is being influenced by a person who is not considered a good role model by society's standards. However, the singer embraces this rebellion as evidenced by the repetition of "If you wanna do what I wanna do, then we're going down down down." The singer challenges the notion that society can control the youth by repeating the line "You can't control the kids, put your hearts up" throughout the song. The upbeat tempo and bass drum overload of the song adds to the rebellious energy of the lyrics.
The chorus of the song encourages the youth to embrace their individuality and rebel against societal expectations. The line "put your hearts up" suggests that the youth should follow their hearts and not be afraid to express themselves, even if it means going against what society considers normal or acceptable. The line "we got love, designed to kill" suggests that the singer and the person they are influenced by have a passionate desire to live life on their own terms, even if it means breaking some rules along the way.
In conclusion, "Can't Control the Kids" is a song that celebrates youth rebellion and encourages the younger generation to embrace their individuality and not be held back by societal expectations. The uplifting and energetic lyrics set to a bass drum overload make for an inspiring anthem for the youth who may feel like the world is trying to control them.

it's the word Kerli uses to describe her style of music. it was taken from what a critic was saying of her and meant as an insult. she turned it around and made it her own. she says it means "to make beautiful things dark and dark things beautiful," sort of how her music can be both dark and beautiful.
@themoonlightvixen
