The human race.
Hold me while I'm fallin' down,
Rearrange what you have found.
[Chorus]
Hurt me!
See me crawling on the floor,
Is this enough, do you want more?
Go on, if it makes you soar!
Hurt me!
See me crawling on the floor,
Is that what you've been longing for?
Is this enough, do you want more?
Go on, if it makes you soar!
You hate my face,
My sweet embrace.
You hate me when I'm all around,
Enjoy it when I'm burning down.
[Chorus]
[Chorus: x 2]
In Kerli's song "Hurt Me," the singer expresses the pain and turmoil she feels when she is hurt by someone who claims to love her. The lyrics delve into the complex emotional state of someone who is torn between wanting to be loved and wanting to rebel against the one who hurts them. The opening lines, "So full of rage, the human race," suggest that the singer feels anger towards humanity for the way they treat each other.
The chorus, which is repeated twice throughout the song, has a powerful message. Kerli begs her tormentor to hurt her because she feels that this is what they want from her. She asks if they want to see her crawling on the floor because it makes them feel powerful. The repetition of the chorus makes the message even more poignant, suggesting that the singer is caught in a cycle of pain and abuse.
The line, "You hate me when I'm all around, enjoy it when I'm burning down," speaks to the idea that some people in our lives might only feel happy when we are at our worst. Kerli's use of poetic language and vivid descriptions create a clear picture of the pain that the singer is experiencing. The song is a powerful statement on the nature of love, abuse, and power.
