Arms Of A Stranger

In the arms of a stranger, callin' out to you
And we don't even talk anymore
Never knew separation anxiety before
And everytime the leaves start changing
It's the loneliest time of year!
Wait, hold on baby, you don't have to leave let's talk it out
Burn all my belongings if you can't figure it out
I don't really need those things anyhow
But everytime the lights go down in the room
Babe if I'm not mistaken the only stranger is me and you
Never meant to say all those things causing so much pain
Now all my thoughts feel so confused
Listen to!
My heart, my heart, callin' out to you
In the arms of a stranger, callin' out to you
And we don't even talk anymore
Never knew separation anxiety before
And everytime the leaves start changing
It's the loneliest time of year!
My favorite book is the notebook by author Nicholas Sparks
Built a fortress just to runaway, but she won't make it far
And everytime the leaves start changing we're lonely just like before
And I don't really need those things anyhow
Her bein' the reason why I can smile
Settle down, think I know a real fly place
A coffee shop around the block from where I once stayed
My heart, my heart, callin' out to you
In the arms of a stranger, callin' out to you
And we don't even talk anymore
Never knew separation anxiety before
And everytime the leaves start changing
It's the loneliest time of year!
The lyrics of "Arms of a Stranger" by Kevin Gates portray the emotional turmoil and vulnerability of a relationship that has lost its way. Gates is calling out to his lover, confessing that he feels lost and alone, even with her by his side. The chorus repeats the phrase "my heart, my heart, calling out to you" to emphasize the intensity of his emotions.
Gates acknowledges the distance between them, "we don't even talk anymore," and expresses his remorse for the hurtful things he has said in the past. The line "never knew separation anxiety before" suggests that he is experiencing a new level of fear and sadness about losing the person he loves. The changing of the leaves is symbolic of the passing of time, and it reminds him of the emptiness and loneliness he feels without her.
Towards the end of the song, Gates mentions his favorite book, "The Notebook" by Nicholas Sparks, which is known for its romantic themes. He also talks about a coffee shop that is located near where he once lived, indicating that he is searching for a sense of familiarity and comfort. The overall message of the song is that even though he feels lost and lonely, Gates is still holding on to hope that they can reconcile and find their way back to each other.
