You don't know
You don't know how to ease my pain
You don't know what the sound is darlin'
It's the sound of my tears fallin'
Or is it the rain?
You don't know how to play the game
You cheat
You make me wanna cry
You make me wanna cry
Cry...
You make me wanna cry
You don't know how to ease my pain
You don't know
You don't know how to ease my pain
Don't you hear any voices cryin'?
That's the sound of my love dyin'
Here comes the rain
You don't know how to play the game
You cheat
You lie
You don't even know how to say goodbye
You make me wanna cry
You don't know
You don't even know how to say goodbye
You make me wanna cry
You don't even know how to say goodbye
You make me wanna cry
Cry...
Cry
Cry

The lyrics of Kevin Godley's song "Cry" express the pain and frustration of being in a toxic relationship where the other person doesn't understand or care about the hurt they are causing. The singer laments that their partner doesn't know how to ease their pain, doesn't know the sound of their tears falling or the sound of their love dying. The rain serves as a metaphor for the sadness and despair the singer is feeling, as it falls relentlessly upon them.
The singer accuses their partner of cheating and lying, causing them to constantly want to cry. The partner doesn't even know how to say goodbye properly, which adds to the singer's pain and frustration. Throughout the song, the repetition of the lines "You don't know how to ease my pain" and "You make me wanna cry" emphasize the hopelessness of the situation and the deep emotional turmoil the singer is experiencing.
Overall, "Cry" is a powerful and relatable song that captures the feelings of helplessness and heartbreak that come with being in a dysfunctional relationship. The repetition of the lyrics and the haunting melody create a sense of desperation and longing that will resonate with anyone who has ever been in a similar situation.

1985: still amazing after all these years. The video was far ahead of its time, and Godley and Creme, with Trevor Horn producing, made a record that still stands the test of time.

I remember driving on a gray, rainy summer day and this song came on, almost perfectly to the rhythm of the windshield wipers. I've never forgotten that.

what kind of car?
@cardinalRG
@seanpratchler1888 --That's a great story, and I can relate because something similar happened to me. I was once stopped at a railroad crossing, with Tom Petty's American Girl playing on the radio. The crossing's lights and bell were were exactly in sync with the song's refrain. And I mean exactly. I couldn't but laugh out loud, and because I was alone in the car, it must have made a weird site to the other drivers alongside. I didn't care, it was a great moment.
