Khalid Donnel Robinson was born on February 11, 1998, in Fort Stewart, Georgia. He is of African-American and Mexican descent. His family moved to El Paso, Texas, when he was small, and he attended high school there. He began making music at an early age, writing his first song at the age of 15 and posting it on SoundCloud.

In July 2016, Khalid released his debut single, "Location". The song was an immediate success, peaking at number 16 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and becoming certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA. It also peaked at number four on the UK Singles Chart and was certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry. The song has received over 645 million streams on Spotify.

Khalid's debut studio album, American Teen, was released on March 3, 2017. The album peaked at number four on the US Billboard 200, and was certified platinum by the RIAA. It was also certified gold in the UK and Australia. The album was nominated for four Grammy Awards, including Best Urban Contemporary Album.

In 2018, Khalid released his second studio album, Suncity, which debuted at number three on the US Billboard 200, and was certified gold by the RIAA. His third studio album, Free Spirit, was released in April 2019 and debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200. He also released his fourth studio album, Up All Night, in October 2019.

Throughout his career, Khalid has collaborated with numerous artists, including Normani, H.E.R., Calvin Harris, and Disclosure. He has appeared on television shows like Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He has also appeared in commercials for the video game Just Dance 2020 and the streaming service Hulu.

In 2020, Khalid won the Grammy Award for Best Music Video for his song "Talk". He also became the youngest artist ever to have three albums certified platinum by the RIAA.

Khalid is an advocate for mental health awareness, and has spoken openly about his struggles with anxiety and depression. He has also been involved in numerous charity initiatives, including the El Paso Shooting Victims' Fund and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

I remember hearing this song for the first time. I was at a salon and remember hearing this beautiful haunting melody with such a soulful voice. I felt chills in my body and inmediately Shazammed the song. I downloaded it and listened to it on the way home. I was going through such a dark and hopeless time in my life and the song just hit my soul so hard that tears rolled down my eyes. I couldn’t help it. The pain I was carrying for so long in my chest just sort of got released and it felt therapeutic to me. When an artist has the ability to produce such a feeling to someone that is true talent.

I did. I got lost wandering through memories of my childhood. Sunday night's playing in my grandparents yard with my cousins, the sun setting over the desert hills. Riding in a side by side on a muddy trail with one of my older cousins. Hunting with my friends. Camping with friends. Vibing to Khalid and Jon bellion. When you in your childhood, ur so excited to be a teenager and drive, but now that I am, I look back and say damn. I had no idea how much fun I was having, how valuable that time was. Now I'm depressed, alone, sitting in my cold apartment in Colorado, 500 miles from where I grew up in cedar city/parowan Utah. I'm overcome by sadness and depression all the time. Tomorrow, I'm thinking about killing myself, so please pray for me.😭🙏

Originally its from a song from The Rolling Stones ‘The Last Time’ orchestral version which was composed by David Whitaker. The song was also inspired by a song from the Staples Singers called ‘This May Be the Last Time’. Sadly the composer earned nothing from it. Allen Klein used to own all the rights to the Stones’ recordings before the seventies. The Verve had a license to use samples from the song but they still got sued. ABKCO Music till this day still earns money from it.
