Khemmis combines the soul of Black Sabbath, the soaring harmonies of Thin Lizzy and Iron Maiden, and the visceral weight of contemporary sludge and doom metal.
No regurgitation. No gimmicks. No trends.
In July 2015, the band released Absolution, a six track, forty-minute journey through transcendent melodies and pure auditory annihilation. Recorded with Dave Otero (Cobalt, Primitive Man) and Shane Howard at Flatline Audio, the album earned praise from listeners and critics alike. Decibel Magazine named it the #9 metal album of 2015, while Pitchfork named it their #5 release of the year. It earned accolades from NPR, Apple Music, Invisible Oranges, Noisey, and No Clean Singing, among others.
A Conversation with Death
Khemmis Lyrics

O' Death
Won't you spare me over 'til another year?
Well what is this, that I can't see,
With icy hands getting hold of me?
Well I am Death, none can excel.
I open the door to Heaven or Hell.
O' Death
Too late, too late, to all farewell
My soul is doomed so heed me well.
As long as God in Heaven dwell,
Your soul, your soul shall scream in Hell.
O' Death
The lyrics to Khemmis's song A Conversation with Death talk about pleading with Death to spare the singer's life for another year. The opening lyrics, "O' Death, O' Death, won't you spare me over 'til another year?" set the tone for the rest of the song. The singer then starts to describe a feeling of being held by "icy hands" and asks Death what is happening to them.
Death responds, introducing themselves as the ultimate decider of who goes to Heaven or Hell. The song then takes a darker turn, with Death stating that it is too late for the singer and that their soul is doomed to hell. The singer is warned to heed Death's warning, as their soul will scream in Hell as long as God is in Heaven.
Overall, the song is a conversation between the singer and Death, with the singer pleading for their life and Death being the bearer of bad news. The lyrics are haunting and have a sense of inevitability, with Death ultimately having the final say.

Oh Mort
Oh Mort
Oh Mort
Trop tard, trop tard, adieu à tous.
Mon âme est condamnée, alors écoutez-moi bien.
Tant que Dieu demeura dans le ciel,
Votre âme, votre âme criera en enfer.
