Everything Is Broken
KiD CuDi Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Everyday is just another crazy anyway
I think I'm winning when you walk away
With all your trophies and you accolades-lades-lades
From the beginning darling

I was just your token, token, token
Everything is broken, broken, broken
I was just your token, token, token
Everything is broken, broken, broken

Travesty, you're at the top of your academy
Don't get too used to looking down on me
Soon you'll be calling me your Majesty
From the beginning darling

I was just your token, token, token
Everything is broken, broken, broken
I was just your token, token, token
Everything is broken, broken, broken

Easy now, I tell you easy now
Before you say something that you don't mean to say
Easy now, she tell me easy now
Before I lose something, I'll never find again

Yeah, that's what she want me believing
See me alone, looks can be deceiving
One girl coming in, two or three leaving
Steaming, Willy Demon, they're screaming
Now that, that, they all love him
In the Midwest so they girls M Dub him
Met them way back when I posed for the Kodak
Tell me, how does it feel unreal

I was just your token, token, token
Everything is broken, broken, broken
I was just your token, token, token
Everything is broken

Gonna take you for a ride

I was just your token, token, token
Everything is broken, broken, broken

I was just your token, token, token
Everything is broken

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Everything Is Broken" by Kid Cudi can be interpreted as a reflection on the singer's feelings of being undervalued and tokenized in a relationship. The recurring phrase "I was just your token" suggests that the singer feels like they were only used as a symbol or a placeholder, rather than being fully appreciated for who they are. The use of the word "broken" reinforces this feeling of being damaged or incomplete, indicating that the singer's self-worth has been eroded by this dynamic.

The second verse introduces a character who is "at the top of [their] academy," implying that they have achieved a great deal of success or recognition. Despite this, the singer warns this person not to "get too used to looking down on me," suggesting that they still see themselves as the underdog in this situation. The final lines of the song shift towards a more confrontational tone, with the mention of "Willy Demon" and "screaming" creating a sense of chaos and aggression. Overall, the song seems to be a complex mix of vulnerability, frustration, and resistance.

The voice from the beginning where it says “everyday!!” That person makes this song hit me so hard. Not taking anything away from kid cudi because i feel he has a vision of this type of good music because mr. rager hits me in some type of ways. Idk how they made this song but i can see why they collabed. Not sure if anyone gets it but its what i think.
