Kid Rock released several studio albums from 1988 that mostly went unnoticed before his 1998 record 'Devil Without a Cause', released with Atlantic Records, sold 11 million albums behind the hits, "Bawitdaba","Cowboy," and "Only God Knows Why". In 2000, he released The History of Rock which was a compilation of remixed and remastered versions of songs from his previous albums as well as the hit single, "American Bad Ass". In 2001, he released the follow up, Cocky. After a slow start, his country-flavored hit "Picture" with Sheryl Crow resurrected the album and it went gold as a single and pushed the album's sales to more than 5 million. It was followed by 2003's self-titled release, which failed to chart a major hit. In 2006 he released Live Trucker , a live album. In 2007 Kid Rock released Rock N Roll Jesus, which produced a hit in "All Summer Long." It was his first worldwide smash hit, charting #1 in eight countries across Europe and Australia. Rock N Roll Jesus would go on to sell 5 million albums worldwide including being certified triple platinum in the US.
He has sold 22 million albums to date in the United States, which currently ranks him as the 99th best selling music artist of all time in the U.S.

Living my life through these songs
I guess loving a music man
Really wasn't in your plans
Does it matter if I'm sorry again
And why should I apologize
You knew all along this was my life
All of my fears and doubts
It's the life I love but it's you I can't live without
And this whole world seems cold and empty
Someone please turn on the lights
Lord if there's an angel you could send me
I could use one here tonight
Where am I supposed to go
My only home was in your soul
I know that I can't stay here
And drown in a pool of tears
Should I pack my pride and face this life alone
And this whole world seems cold and empty
Someone please turn on the lights
Lord if there's an angel you could send me
I could use one here tonight
Maybe it's me who's cold and empty
And in my darkness I cannot see the light
Please God if there's an angel you could send me (if there's an angel)
Cause there's one missing from my life
You are my heart, you are my soul
Wherever you are, that's where I go
You know my in's and out's
All of my dears and doubts
It's the life I love but it's you I can't live without
It's the life I love but it's you I can't live without
Baby it's the life I love but it's you I can't live without
Yeah, the life I love, the life I love, but it's you I can't live without
The lyrics to Kid Rock's song Cold and Empty describe the inner turmoil of a man who is torn between his love for music and his love for a woman. The first verse reveals that the singer has been on the road for too long, living his life through his songs. He begins to realize that loving a music man may not have been in his partner's plans, hence the relationship is likely to end.
The second verse shows the singer trying to make amends with his partner, questioning if it matters if he apologizes again. He acknowledges that his partner knew all along that this was his life, thus his partner knows all of his fears and doubts. He loves the life he has in music, but he cannot live without his partner. The singer realizes that the world seems cold and empty without his partner, and he desperately needs an angel in his life.
The chorus repeats the need for an angel and the singer's acknowledgment of his love for his partner. The bridge of the song suggests that the singer could be the one who is cold and empty, and he cannot see the light through his darkness. He pleads with God to send an angel into his life as he believes that he's missing the one thing that he needs. The last verse reiterates the importance of the partner in the singer's life, indicating that he will follow wherever his partner goes.

Kid Rock is a freaking legend.
A true talent, loved across all generations.
He was my dad's favorite,...and I love him too. The only concert I got to attend with my dad, was Kid Rock during his Cocky tour.
