Kid Rock released several studio albums from 1988 that mostly went unnoticed before his 1998 record 'Devil Without a Cause', released with Atlantic Records, sold 11 million albums behind the hits, "Bawitdaba","Cowboy," and "Only God Knows Why". In 2000, he released The History of Rock which was a compilation of remixed and remastered versions of songs from his previous albums as well as the hit single, "American Bad Ass". In 2001, he released the follow up, Cocky. After a slow start, his country-flavored hit "Picture" with Sheryl Crow resurrected the album and it went gold as a single and pushed the album's sales to more than 5 million. It was followed by 2003's self-titled release, which failed to chart a major hit. In 2006 he released Live Trucker , a live album. In 2007 Kid Rock released Rock N Roll Jesus, which produced a hit in "All Summer Long." It was his first worldwide smash hit, charting #1 in eight countries across Europe and Australia. Rock N Roll Jesus would go on to sell 5 million albums worldwide including being certified triple platinum in the US.
He has sold 22 million albums to date in the United States, which currently ranks him as the 99th best selling music artist of all time in the U.S.
Hillbilly Stomp
Kid Rock Lyrics

The redneck originator, rollin' in my pick up
Truck jacked up with the four gold shocks
And where I come from mud flaps come stock
People Kid Rock it up and down the block
And the hens all flock to the coup with the cock
You want to rock with me baby, row it down to the swamp
Do it, hi-ho
We'll do the hillbilly stomp, hi-ho, haha
I like stuckies, truckers and big mesh hats
I like large round women in laundromats
I like to wander jack like a backwards thug
And watch the moonshine through the bottom of a jug
Hugging and kissing with my vision all blurry
Sifting through this world of worry
Hurry up with love, please, God bless
I don't do drugs anymore or any less
I didn't start this mess on this planet
Stop looking at me like a bandit
I've been chilling down at the swamp
With the folks that want to do the hillbilly stomp
Do it, hi-ho
We'll do the hillbilly stomp, hi-ho
Now people want to know how to do this dance
Life your legs in the air like you wet your pants
Plant your hands on the top of your butt
And stomp around the woods like you're all fucked up
Circle up the trucks, fire up the brush
Untuck your shirt, we're gonna kick some dust
Don't two plus two it or three plus three it
Four by four and to a place that's scenic
Heat it up like some hot ham hocks cooking
And hop to the spot where the cops ain't looking
Bring your whole flock, go on down to the swamp
And we can rock all night doing the hillbilly stomp
Do it, hi-ho
We'll do the hillbilly stomp, hi-ho
The lyrics to Kid Rock's song "Hillbilly Stomp" celebrate the rural Southern lifestyle, which Kid Rock, who comes from Detroit, has appropriated into his music. The singer of the song is a redneck, proud of his truck with four gold shocks, his mud flaps, and his love for Stuckies, big round women, and moonshine. He invites people to come down to the swamp, dock their boats, and learn the "hillbilly stomp," a dance that involves lifting your legs in the air, planting your hands on your butt, and stomping around the woods like you're drunk.
As with many Kid Rock songs, the lyrics walk the line between celebration and satire. While some might see them as reinforcing harmful stereotypes about rural Southerners, others might see them as affectionate ribbing. In either case, Kid Rock's persona is more about the mythos of the hillbilly than an accurate representation of a particular subculture.
Overall, "Hillbilly Stomp" is a song about letting loose and having fun, regardless of your background or where you come from. It's a song that revels in its own silliness and invites you to do the same.

That's right I still like this song.
Every time I get drunk I seem to do
"The Hillbilly Stomp"
Got my ass put in jail for it.
I guess they thought I was drunk.
I tried to tell them I was doing
"The hillbilly stomp"
Cops didn't think I was funny.
They took me anyway.

My dad made me listen to you throughout my childhood. At like, 9, my bestfriend and I would stomp around the woods like we're all fucked up. We were and are still your youngest fans. Well, I'm 21 now, but I still listen to you as much as I had to. Can't wait to see you in concert again. You're just an awesome person. I can't help to think that we should be relatives, lol.
