Collide
Kid Rock featuring Sheryl Crow Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You're no angel, I'm no saint, if we were
We wouldn't be in this place tonight

Lost and lonely, scared and confused
We both have a past, nothing to lose, tonight
Well, it cuts like a knife these bad luck blues
We both got scars from the hell we been through
Somebody's gotta win, somebody's gotta lose

So let's roll the dice, one more time
Take a chance on love again tonight
Risk it all, lay it on the line
Let the skeletons fight for life
Tonight, hold on tight, as we collide

Reconnected, feelin' no pain
Seeking shelter like a spark in the rain, tonight (ooh yeah)
Worn and weathered, scared to go home
We're here together, but still all alone, tonight (uh uh yeah)
And there's no need to lie, we've both been abused
The love and the pain
Cocaine and booze, now
Most people don't, but some people do

So let's roll the dice, one more time
Take a chance on love again tonight
Risk it all, lay it on the line
Let the skeletons fight for life
Tonight, hold on tight, as we collide
As we collide
As we collide

So let's roll the dice, one more time
Take a chance on love again tonight
Risk it all, lay it on the line
Let the skeletons fight for life
Tonight, hold on tight, as we collide
As we collide (oh, as we collide)
As we collide (we collide)
As we collide (as we collide)
As we collide
As we collide (as we collide)
As we collide

As we collide
As we collide

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Kid Rock's Collide depict two damaged individuals coming together to take a chance on love despite their troubled pasts. The opening lines acknowledge that neither of them is perfect, and that they both have made mistakes that have led them to their current situation. The chorus repeatedly urges them to "roll the dice" and "take a chance on love," even though there is a risk involved. Their connection is described as intense, almost volatile, as they "collide" in an emotional and physical sense.

The second verse of the song provides more detail about the reasons why these two people have ended up in the same place at the same time. They are both "worn and weathered" and seeking refuge from the storms of life. They have both experienced pain and trauma, and perhaps as a result, they are hesitant to trust one another completely. Nevertheless, they recognize that they share a common bond - they have both been "abused" by love and by life. The metaphor of the skeletons fighting for life suggests that they are battling their inner demons as they attempt to move forward.

Overall, the lyrics to Collide are a poignant reflection on the risks and rewards of love. Despite the scars of the past, the song encourages us to take chances and embrace our vulnerabilities.

There seems to be so many Kid Rock impersonators on the Interweb these days attempting to contact his fans under false pretences.
Subterfuge,
If you will.
That character 'Mr Kid Rock'
..?
I don't know where you find these characters.
Probably located in some Internet sweat factory in a deep damp basement in a mysterious location in Tokyo,
Or some where like that...
Hey,
Forget about that complete Cruiser.
He is not Kid Rock,
I am in fact 'Elvis'.
Know that my fake profile picture does not exactly match up to the King.
But,
When you encounter complete weirdos over the Interweb,
Just use your imagination.

That's what to be true and free artists is about, I enjoy to listen to you both, but I had a life of music, sleepless nights and abuses, now my body isn't very well, hope to have one more holidays in one year, just to stop to think it's maybe my last one. I recognize a lot of things in this song and Picture, I mean about my life in heavy metal and booze,, but I took the time to discover your careers dear Sheryl and Kid Rock, it is a soothing great music both. I like to sing Picture with my sister, since she accepted to give me a chance to prove that now, at 42,I'm at least sincere in my way of life and not just afraid of what is going on in these tired lungs and heart, you helped me to find a way to look at the beauty of the world, even if I did it a tad, I will be leaving for another place with brighter feelings about the life. You did a lot for me, maybe you could only say that is music, but you have so beautiful songs, thank you 🙏
My sus will bring her amps and mics equipment here at our new year eves party ((0.0% of alcohol Budweiser and Beck's beers for me now, and it's harder for me to 🎶 ,nowadays my breath is short , but I am repeating since a few days,, to try collide wth her. We did Picture a lot of time and it's always making us feel very emotional cos she's not my gf obviously, and hum... hopefully too (just kidding lol) but she was so much worried about me, in this life of non stop party when I was leaving with the bands I booked for dates, or tours and booze, co***one, cigarette, alcohol at the moment I was waking up, to be able to start my day, and starting the train of madness again. I lost my love for these reasons too, so she was thinking of me when she was listening to Picture especially. I hope to be able to do it with Collide, one little time tomorrow. We saw a part of my life in this one too. I can't do it without tears and remembrances about my Sandra. She's a very closed friend but I wanna share my life with her as my gf again, I'm not sure I can deal with this feeling of being a widow maker and hurt her heart and crush it at the end, she will be so much more sad, I love her too much to make her this thing. I'll do my best to make it, and I realized that I am not a good person, but not bad one too., I lived a life with the total absence of caring about my health, just like if I was protected from the damages to come. But your music, especially these two partner's chef d'oeuvre, are healing my heart and soul, it has been a very long road to realize that I am not a pigeon hearted man like I thought lots of times, it's two great songs, though many other ones in your career, but I learned to listen a song with my heart, with yours in some songs, and to smile when I listen to some other ones (Kid Rock, Son of Detroit is damn great, and I am not living with regrets so I have fun when I listen to things one and warch the video, I had many unforgettable moments too, I remember funny thingss and crazy funny moments too, I cannot lie on this point. We're two different guys but the beauty of music is too be able to let our mind go, to see our lives and sometimes, this is the magic, to have that feeling the artists are telling some moments of our l8vre, just have to let our minds go, to set it free and dream of what we have done, or wanted to do.
Sheryl, Kid Rock, have great holidays, a happy new year 2023, God bless you and hope the strange world situation will be resolved soon and to see our great countries recover our whole freedom, and to see my country finally walking at your side again makes me feel good to be your first adjuvants, and efficient back up to see the peace of the world restored5, and a secure place to live once again . Peace to you, to the World, thanks you, to your country to be the best neighbours ever, I hope the Canada will be 100% a serious Allie again, for peace, justice, freedom and keep it safe.
I send you my most sincere good vibes and thoughts 🙏🌹🎶
Best wishes and greetings from Québec, Canada6
All the best, God bless
Sincerely
Dani
