Relton's third EP and first with Black Butter Records entitled Alphaville was named after the 1965 French film of the same name.
Kidnap Kid is embarking on a new era of his career. For starters, he’s dropping the "Kid." The U.K. producer announced the name change on his birthday, writing: "I was 21 when this all began. Today I’m 26 and feeling ready to turn the page."
Henceforth known as Kidnap, Matt Relton is ushering in the change with a new two-track EP entitled Skin.
Stronger
Kidnap Kid Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I should be stronger
All for me
You should be weaker
I should be stronger
You should be weaker
All for me
I should be stronger
All for me
You should be weaker
I should be stronger
You should be weaker
The chorus of Kidnap Kid's song "Stronger" appears to be sung in a somewhat confrontational manner towards another person, with the singer stating that they should become stronger while the other person should become weaker. The repeated lines of "All for me, I should be stronger, all for me, you should be weaker, I should be stronger, you should be weaker" reinforce this idea.
One way to interpret these lyrics is that the singer is feeling a need to put themselves first and prioritize their own needs and desires over those of the other person. They feel that in order to achieve this, they need to become stronger and more assertive, while the other person should become more submissive and pliable. This could be a reflection of a power dynamic in a relationship, where one person feels like they are not getting enough of what they want and are taking steps to address that imbalance.
However, another interpretation could be that the singer is actually challenging the idea of needing to be strong in order to get what they want. The repetition of the phrase "All for me" could be seen as somewhat selfish, and the emphasis on the need to be stronger and weaker could be seen as reinforcing harmful notions of power imbalances in relationships. Instead, the singer could be suggesting that they need to build a relationship with the other person that is based on equality and mutual respect, rather than one where one person always has the upper hand.
