Eleven Kidz Bop albums have been released to date. Each album features different pop music songs, played with music similar to the original, and with the "Kidz Bop Kids" singing instead of the original artist. Albums are typically released within a few months of each other and thus the songs included tend to be the hit songs of the current time, including such songs such as "Float On" (Modest Mouse), "This Love" (Maroon 5), and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" (Green Day).
Although the albums are marketed as being "sanitized" versions of popular songs for children, many of the songs featured on the Kidz Bop albums still contain explicit sexual material, such as Rob Thomas's "Lonely No More," which some people consider inappropriate for younger audiences. Other featured songs, such as "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", contain profanity. Although the albums censor the actual word from the song, the context of the profanity remains. They also covered Green Day's hit "Wake Me Up When September Ends", which is about death.
The Kidz Bop video for their cover of Avril Lavigne's "Sk8r Boi", for instance, features the song being sung by a pre-teen girl in heavy make-up, fishnet stockings, and a Sex Pistols t-shirt.

You were gonna come to me
And here you are
But you better choose carefully
'Cause I'm, I'm capable of anything
Of anything and everything
Make me your one and only
Don't make me your enemy, your enemy, your enemy
So you wanna play with magic
Boy, you should know whatcha falling for
Baby do you dare to do this
'Cause I'm coming atcha like a dark horse
Are you ready for, ready for
A perfect storm, perfect storm
'Cause once you're mine, once you're mine
There's no going back
Mark my words
This love will make you levitate
Like a bird
Like a bird without a cage
But down to earth
If you choose to walk away, don't walk away
It's in the palm of your hand now baby
It's a yes or no, no maybe
So just be sure before you give your heart to me
A heart to me, give your heart to me
So you wanna play with magic
Boy, you should know whatcha falling for
Baby do you dare to do this
'Cause I'm coming atcha like a dark horse
Are you ready for, ready for
A perfect storm, perfect storm
'Cause once you're mine, once you're mine
There's no going back
So you wanna play with magic
Boy, you should know whatcha falling for
Baby do you dare to do this
'Cause I'm coming atcha like a dark horse
Are you ready for, ready for
A perfect storm, perfect storm
'Cause once you're mine, once you're mine
There's no going back
The lyrics to KIDZ BOP Kids' "Dark Horse" are about a person who has been pursued by someone they have been waiting for. The lyrics urge caution to the subject of the song, who must choose carefully because the singer is "capable of anything." The theme of the lyrics is that once you give your heart to someone, there is no going back.
The singer wants to be someone's "one and only" and not their "enemy." She teases the subject of the song with the suggestion of playing with magic, but cautions him that he should know what he's getting into because she's coming at him like a "dark horse." The chorus repeats the idea that once he's hers, there's no going back.
The bridge uses metaphorical language to describe what it will be like if the subject of the song chooses to enter into a relationship with her. She says the love they will share will make him "levitate like a bird without a cage." She encourages him to not walk away, but instead to give his heart to her.
Overall, the lyrics of "Dark Horse" are about the thrill and risk of being in a new romantic relationship, and the importance of being careful when choosing who to be with.
