Eleven Kidz Bop albums have been released to date. Each album features different pop music songs, played with music similar to the original, and with the "Kidz Bop Kids" singing instead of the original artist. Albums are typically released within a few months of each other and thus the songs included tend to be the hit songs of the current time, including such songs such as "Float On" (Modest Mouse), "This Love" (Maroon 5), and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" (Green Day).
Although the albums are marketed as being "sanitized" versions of popular songs for children, many of the songs featured on the Kidz Bop albums still contain explicit sexual material, such as Rob Thomas's "Lonely No More," which some people consider inappropriate for younger audiences. Other featured songs, such as "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", contain profanity. Although the albums censor the actual word from the song, the context of the profanity remains. They also covered Green Day's hit "Wake Me Up When September Ends", which is about death.
The Kidz Bop video for their cover of Avril Lavigne's "Sk8r Boi", for instance, features the song being sung by a pre-teen girl in heavy make-up, fishnet stockings, and a Sex Pistols t-shirt.
HEADSTRONG
Kidz Bop Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Contemplating everything you ever said
Now I see the truth I got a doubt
A different motive in your eyes
And now I'm out, see you later
I see your fantasy
You want to make it a reality paved in gold
Well, now that's over
I see your motives inside
Decisions to hide
Back off, I'll take you on
Headstrong to take on anyone
I know that you are wrong
Headstrong, we're headstrong
Back off, I'll take you on
Headstrong to take on anyone
I know that you are wrong
And this is not where you belong
I can't give everything away
I won't give everything away
Conclusions manifest, your first impression's
Got to be your very best
I see you're full of shit and that's alright
That's how you play, I guess you get through
Every night, well, now that's over
I see your fantasy
You want to make it a reality paved in gold
See inside, inside of our heads, yeah
Well, now that's over
I see your motives inside
Decisions to hide
Back off, I'll take you on
Headstrong to take on anyone
I know that you are wrong
Headstrong, we're headstrong
Back off, I'll take you on
Headstrong to take on anyone
I know that you are wrong
And this is not where you belong
Where you belong?
(I can't give everything away)
This is not where you belong
(I won't give everything away)
I know, I know all about, I know, I know all about
I know, I know all about, I know, I know all about
Your motives inside and your decision to hide
Back off, I'll take you on
Headstrong to take on anyone
I know that you are wrong
Headstrong, we're headstrong
Back off, I'll take you on
Headstrong to take on anyone
I know that you are wrong
And this is not where you belong
Where you belong?
This is not where you belong
(I can't give everything away)
This is not where you belong
(I won't give everything away)
This is not where you belong
The song "Headstrong" is about standing up to someone who is manipulative and deceitful. The lyrics describe someone who has been circling around in the singer's head, and they have now realized that this person has a different motive and is not trustworthy. The singer sees through the other person's facade and refuses to be manipulated any longer.
The chorus of the song, "Back off, I'll take you on / Headstrong to take on anyone / I know that you are wrong / Headstrong, we're headstrong," is a declaration of strength and determination to stand up to the other person. They will not back down and will confront the other person head-on.
The verses of the song also touch on the other person's motivations and decisions to hide their true intentions. The singer sees through this and refuses to give in to their manipulations. The song ends with a repetition of "This is not where you belong," emphasizing that the manipulative person does not belong in the singer's life.
Overall, "Headstrong" is a powerful anthem about standing up to manipulation and refusing to be controlled by others.
