Eleven Kidz Bop albums have been released to date. Each album features different pop music songs, played with music similar to the original, and with the "Kidz Bop Kids" singing instead of the original artist. Albums are typically released within a few months of each other and thus the songs included tend to be the hit songs of the current time, including such songs such as "Float On" (Modest Mouse), "This Love" (Maroon 5), and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" (Green Day).
Although the albums are marketed as being "sanitized" versions of popular songs for children, many of the songs featured on the Kidz Bop albums still contain explicit sexual material, such as Rob Thomas's "Lonely No More," which some people consider inappropriate for younger audiences. Other featured songs, such as "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", contain profanity. Although the albums censor the actual word from the song, the context of the profanity remains. They also covered Green Day's hit "Wake Me Up When September Ends", which is about death.
The Kidz Bop video for their cover of Avril Lavigne's "Sk8r Boi", for instance, features the song being sung by a pre-teen girl in heavy make-up, fishnet stockings, and a Sex Pistols t-shirt.

(Ho) I been trying to do it right
(Hey) I been living a lonely life
(Ho) I been sleepin' here instead
(Hey) I been sleepin' in my bed
(Ho) I been sleepin' in my bed (hey ho)
(Ho) So show me family
(Hey) All the blood that I will bleed
(Ho) I don't know where I belong
(Hey) I don't know where I went wrong
(Ho) But I can write a song (hey)
I belong with you, you belong with me, you're my sweetheart
I belong with you, you belong with me, you're my sweet' (ho)
(Hey, ho hey)
(Ho) I don't think you're right for him
(Hey) Think of what it might have been if we
(Ho) Took a bus to Chinatown
(Hey) I'd be standin' on canal (ho) and Bowery (hey)
(Ho) She'd be standin' next to me (hey)
I belong with you, you belong with me, you're my sweetheart
I belong with you, you belong with me, you're my sweetheart
Love we, need it now
Let's hope, for some
'Cause oh, we're bleedin' out
I belong with you, you belong with me, you're my sweetheart
I belong with you, you belong with me, you're my sweet' (ho hey, ho hey)
The lyrics to Kidz Bop Kids' song "Ho Hey" tell a story of searching for belonging, love, and companionship. The singer begins by acknowledging their efforts to "do it right" but still feeling lonely and isolated. They long for family and for someone to share their life with, but they don't know where they belong or what they've done wrong. Nevertheless, they find solace in writing songs and expressing themselves through music.
The chorus, "I belong with you, you belong with me, you're my sweetheart," is a declaration of love and a recognition of a special connection with another person. The singer is saying that they are meant to be together and that they can find happiness and fulfillment in each other. The verses continue with a sense of doubt and uncertainty, with the singer wondering if the person they love is really right for them and imagining what might have been if things were different. The final lines, "Love we, need it now / Let's hope, for some / 'Cause oh, we're bleedin' out," convey a sense of urgency and desperation, emphasizing the importance of love and connection in our lives.
Overall, "Ho Hey" is a catchy, upbeat song that explores universal themes of loneliness, love, and belonging. It encourages listeners to value the people in their lives and to seek out meaningful relationships, while also recognizing the challenges and uncertainties of love and life.
