Eleven Kidz Bop albums have been released to date. Each album features different pop music songs, played with music similar to the original, and with the "Kidz Bop Kids" singing instead of the original artist. Albums are typically released within a few months of each other and thus the songs included tend to be the hit songs of the current time, including such songs such as "Float On" (Modest Mouse), "This Love" (Maroon 5), and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" (Green Day).
Although the albums are marketed as being "sanitized" versions of popular songs for children, many of the songs featured on the Kidz Bop albums still contain explicit sexual material, such as Rob Thomas's "Lonely No More," which some people consider inappropriate for younger audiences. Other featured songs, such as "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", contain profanity. Although the albums censor the actual word from the song, the context of the profanity remains. They also covered Green Day's hit "Wake Me Up When September Ends", which is about death.
The Kidz Bop video for their cover of Avril Lavigne's "Sk8r Boi", for instance, features the song being sung by a pre-teen girl in heavy make-up, fishnet stockings, and a Sex Pistols t-shirt.
Let It Rock

I see your dirty face hide behind your collar
What is done in vain, truth is hard to swallow
So you pray a lot to justify the way you live a lie
Live a lie, live a lie
And you take your time and you stand in line
Because when I arrive, I, I'll bring the fire
Make you come alive, I can take you higher
What this is, forgot? I must now remind you
Let it rock, let it rock, let it rock
Now the son's disgraced, he who knew his father
When he cursed his name, turned and chased the dollar bill
But it broke his heart so he raised his hand and waived it
To the world, to the world, to the world
And you take your time, and you stand in line
Well you'll get what's yours, I got mine
Because when I arrive, I, I'll bring the fire
Make you come alive, I can take you higher
What this is, forgot? I must now remind you
Let it rock, let it rock, let it rock
Because when I arrive, I, I'll bring the fire
Make you come alive, I can take you higher
What this is, forgot? I must now remind you
Let it rock, let it rock, let it rock
Because when I arrive, I, I'll bring the fire
Make you come alive, I can take you higher
What this is, forgot? I must now remind you
Let it rock, let it rock, let it rock
Just let it rock, let it rock, let it rock
Let it rock, let it rock, let it rock, let it rock
I wish I could be as cruel as you
And I wish I could say the things you do
But I can't and I won't live a lie
No, not this time
The lyrics to Kidz Bop's "Let it Rock" speak to the idea of living authentically and honestly. The song begins by addressing someone whose "dirty face" is hidden behind their "collar," suggesting that this person may be living a lie or a double life. The lyrics note that it is difficult to justify living this way, even when one prays frequently to do so. However, the chorus emphasizes that when the singer arrives, they will bring the fire and take the listener higher, reminding them to let it rock and be true to themselves.
Later in the song, the lyrics shift to a different storyline, discussing a son who has been disgraced because he turned on his father and chased after money. The lyrics suggest that this pursuit was ultimately unfulfilling and led to heartache, and the son ultimately raised his hand to the world in recognition of this. The chorus once again repeats the message of bringing fire and energy to one's life, and encourages listeners to let it rock.
Overall, the lyrics to "Let it Rock" are intended to inspire listeners to live honestly and authentically, even when it may be difficult or uncomfortable to do so. The song encourages each listener to find their own fire and passion, and use it to take themselves higher.
