Eleven Kidz Bop albums have been released to date. Each album features different pop music songs, played with music similar to the original, and with the "Kidz Bop Kids" singing instead of the original artist. Albums are typically released within a few months of each other and thus the songs included tend to be the hit songs of the current time, including such songs such as "Float On" (Modest Mouse), "This Love" (Maroon 5), and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" (Green Day).
Although the albums are marketed as being "sanitized" versions of popular songs for children, many of the songs featured on the Kidz Bop albums still contain explicit sexual material, such as Rob Thomas's "Lonely No More," which some people consider inappropriate for younger audiences. Other featured songs, such as "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", contain profanity. Although the albums censor the actual word from the song, the context of the profanity remains. They also covered Green Day's hit "Wake Me Up When September Ends", which is about death.
The Kidz Bop video for their cover of Avril Lavigne's "Sk8r Boi", for instance, features the song being sung by a pre-teen girl in heavy make-up, fishnet stockings, and a Sex Pistols t-shirt.
Take You There

I'm giving you everything
All that joy can bring, this I swear
Last time that we had this conversation
I decided we should be friends, hey
But now we're going 'round in circles
Tell me, will this déjà vu never end? Oh
Now you tell me that you've fallen in love
Well I never ever thought that would be, ayy
This time, gotta take it easy
Throwing far too much emotions at me
But any fool can see they're falling
I gotta make you understand
I'm giving you everything
All that joy can bring, this I swear
(I'll give you everything)
And all that I want from you
Is a promise you will be there
(Say you will be there)
A-won't you sing it with me?
If you put two and two together
You will see what our friendship is for, oh
If you can't work this equation
Then I guess I'll have to show you the door
There is no need to say you love me
It would be better left unsaid
I'm giving you everything
All that joy can bring, this I swear
(I'll give you everything)
And all that I want from you
Is a promise you will be there
(Say you will be there)
A-won't you sing it with me?
I'm (I'm) , giving you everything (I'll give you everything)
All that joy can bring
(All that joy can bring) , this I swear (Yes
I swear)
And (And) , all that I want from you (All I want from you)
Is a promise you
(Is a promise you) will be there
Any fool can see they're falling
I gotta make you understand
I'll give you everything, on this I swear
Just promise you'll always be there
I'm giving you everything
All that joy can bring, this I swear
(I'll give you everything)
And all that I want from you
Is a promise you will be there
(Say you will be there)
A-won't you sing it with me?
I'm giving you everything
(I'm giving you everything)
All that joy can bring
(All that joy can bring) , this I swear (Yes
I swear) and all that I want from you
(All that I want from you) is a promise you
(Want you to promise to) will
Be there (Always be there)
I'm giving you everything
(I'm giving you everything)
All that joy can bring
(All that joy can bring) , this I swear (Yes
I swear) and all that I want from you
(All that I want from you) is a promise you
(Want you to promise to) will
Be there (Always be there)
The song "Take You There" by Kidz Bop is a catchy tune with two main themes. The first theme is taking a girl either to the tropics for a luxurious vacation or to the slums to witness the harsh reality of the streets. The chorus of the song states that the singer can take the girl either to the tropics to sip piña coladas or to the slums where killers get hung. The second theme revolves around the singer's ability to protect the girl no matter where they go. He assures the girl that he can take care of her and show her around his city, even if it means facing danger.
The song reveals a dichotomy of lifestyles in its use of lyrics, which can leave the listener with mixed emotions. On one hand, the tune talks of sipping tropical drinks in paradise, but, on the other hand, it depicts the harshness of life in the slums with kids wielding guns as young as fifteen years old. The singer, in the midst of all of this, remains confident in his ability to take care of the girl, promising her a good time regardless of where they end up going.
Overall, the song is both bold and risky, with its use of contrasting themes involving paradise and danger. It allows the listener to feel a mix of emotions throughout the song, ranging from excitement to fear.
