Eleven Kidz Bop albums have been released to date. Each album features different pop music songs, played with music similar to the original, and with the "Kidz Bop Kids" singing instead of the original artist. Albums are typically released within a few months of each other and thus the songs included tend to be the hit songs of the current time, including such songs such as "Float On" (Modest Mouse), "This Love" (Maroon 5), and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" (Green Day).
Although the albums are marketed as being "sanitized" versions of popular songs for children, many of the songs featured on the Kidz Bop albums still contain explicit sexual material, such as Rob Thomas's "Lonely No More," which some people consider inappropriate for younger audiences. Other featured songs, such as "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", contain profanity. Although the albums censor the actual word from the song, the context of the profanity remains. They also covered Green Day's hit "Wake Me Up When September Ends", which is about death.
The Kidz Bop video for their cover of Avril Lavigne's "Sk8r Boi", for instance, features the song being sung by a pre-teen girl in heavy make-up, fishnet stockings, and a Sex Pistols t-shirt.
Where'd You Go

I miss you so
Seems like it's been forever
That you've been gone
She said, "Some days I feel like shit"
Some days I wanna quit, and just be normal for a bit"
I don't understand why you have to always be goneI get along but the trips always feel so long
And, I find myself tryna stay by the phone
'Cause your voice always helps me when I feel so alone
But I feel like an idiot, workin' my day around the call
But when I pick up I don't have much to say
So, I want you to know it's a little fucked up
That I'm stuck here waitin', at times debatin'
Tellin' you that I've had it with you and your career
Me and the rest of the family here singing "Where'd you go?"
I miss you so
Seems like it's been forever
That you've been gone
Where'd you go?
I miss you so,
Seems like it's been forever
That you've been gone
Please come back home
You know the place where you used to live,
Used to barbeque up burgers and ribs,
Used to have a little party every Halloween with candy by the pile,
But now, you only stop by every once in a while,
Shit, I find myself just fillin' my time,
Anything to keep the thought of you from my mind,
I'm doin' fine, I plan to keep it that way,You can call me if you find you have somethin' to say,
And I'll tell you, I want you to know it's a little fucked up,
That I'm stuck here waitin', at times debatin',
Tellin' you that I've had it with you and your career,
Me and the rest of the family here singing, "Where'd you go?"
I miss you so,
Seems like it's been forever,
That you've been gone.
Where'd you go?
I miss you so,
Seems like it's been forever,
That you've been gone,
Please come back home
I want you to know it's a little fucked up,
That I'm stuck here waitin', no longer debatin',
Tired of sittin' and hatin' and makin' these excuses,
For while you're not around, and feeling so useless,
It seems one thing has been true all along,
You don't really know what you got 'til it's gone,
I guess I've had it with you and your career,
When you come back I won't be here and you'll can sing it
Where'd you go?
I miss you so,
Seems like it's been forever,
That you've been gone
Where'd you go?
I miss you so,
Seems like it's been forever,
That you've been gone
Please come back home
Please come back home
Please come back home
Please come back home
Please come back home
The song "Where'd You Go?" by Fort Minor (sung here by Kidz Bop) tells the story of a relationship strained by the distance of one person's frequent traveling due to their career. The lyrics convey the emotions of the person left behind, who misses their partner and finds it hard to cope with the prolonged absences. The line "Some days I feel like shit, some days I wanna quit, and just be normal for a bit" suggests that the person left behind is struggling with their own emotions, and the line "I find myself tryna stay by the phone" shows their desperation to stay connected even when their partner is not physically present. However, the communication is one-sided, as when the partner does call, the person left behind "doesn't have much to say", making the situation even more frustrating.
The second part of the song, however, reveals a change in tone. The person left behind seems to have reached a breaking point and is tired of waiting and making excuses. They declare that they have "had it with you and your career" and that their partner doesn't really know what they had "until it's gone". The final lines suggest that the relationship may be over, with the person left behind saying "When you come back I won't be here and you'll can sing it".
