The pair met as 16 year old students, played together in various rock bands but became frustrated by band politics and after seeing various members self combust mentally and physically the idea of a duo was born.
Kill For Companyโs sound came with Michaelโs big idea, something he had toyed with since doing a guitar tech course in Manchester. Michael created the โGuibassโ in essence a lead guitar with two bass strings at the low end, re-jig the pickups, adjust the strings and then split the signal through a bass and lead amp. Much easier said than done, despite all advice to the contrary the โGuibassโ was born. Like Mary Shelleyโs Frankenstein once Pedals and adjustment to his playing technique were added the results were formidable, They surprisingly found you could get a really full sound in the studio and at live showcases.
Mark and Michael quickly discovered that the instrument gave Kill For Company massive freedom to experiment, the recordings could be done live in rehearsal rooms on Michaelโs mobile studio and production done back at home. Their first EP was LoFi alternative rock the second promises to have a more progressive experimental feel.
The first self produced EP quickly sold out and brought the duo to the attention of Amazing Radio, Salford City Radio, ManchesterRadioOnline, 4QMagazine, Rainy Skies magazine and Michelle Hussey at BBC Introducing.
After a sell out EP Launch @ The Deaf Institute Manchester clothing endorsement with FLY53 and signing to Longevity Records their second EP โAlternative To Livingโ had its second track "Black and White" hand picked by Tom Robinson to be on his BBC Introducing Mixtape. National airplay on BBC6Music soon followed.
Kill For Company are hitting some festivals this summer. โCadence Festivalโ on Saturday 15th June. The main stage for south Manchesterโs new โHeadlander Festivalโ Friday the 21st June and โLakeFestโ with Ocean Colour Scene, The Beat and The Levellers 9th - 11th August. Voted one of the 10 best new UK festivals 2012.

" I think im falling in love with this band" Michelle Hussey - BBC Introducing
"Although in reality he is armed only with his โguibassโ and backed by crashing drums, at times it seems that, through his array of effects pedals, Michael instead commands an orchestra; creating a plethora of colours and sounds that ensure audience memberโs ears are engrossed." LouderThanWar
โMoney Now is swirling mass of lofi attitude and guitars that brings to mind early KOL, The Arctic Monkeys underpinned by a Peter Hook bassline, Hats of gents, thatโs a hell of a lot of noise for two people!" - FreshOnTheNet
โItโs as solid and complete a slab of rock-n-roll goodness as anyone could possibly needโ - Music From Rainy Skies Magazine
" The strength of the duo's musical chemistry has been Victorious" 4Q Magazine
(4/5) - "Kill for Company are difficult to ignore. If this EP contains the sort of music that their album will, they will be impossible to ignore." Vents Magazine
"This duo bring together the best of unique, yet familiar, music with an elegant and simultaneously attitude riddled sound in a humble, inspiring way. You can quote that when theyโre huge." Alt Music Review
"if they arenโt attracting the attention they should at the moment, surely will do soon." Backseat Mafia
"I really suggest you go and buy it! It will be the best thing you have bought this year! And itโs probably the best thing you will listen to by far! So what you waiting for?!" Intamission Music

@TheBigGuyBillyBob
I like the enthusiasm, but with the speed it's going at, I'd have to chase it, and I'm not good at chasing things if one of my eyes has just been attacked.
@neoacid7
Aussie here! Not your typical magpie in the video. That one is a magpie-lark. Not as big as the Australian magpie. If it was, she would have lost her eye.
@primemachine146
I was gonna, this looks quite different from your standard magpies other then the colours
@-Harriet-
Yes! I was going to mention this. I live in Australia and I remember researching abt the difference between the two (I randomly research abt things that perk my interest, so donโt mind me).

@@batats7876 Yep. Weโve got all the deadly ones over here.
