Scarecrow
Killer Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm used to be a loner, since the day I was born
Neither sisters nor brothers, I got no friends to call
I never knew what love was,
But I've been trying again and again
And I found out the answer,
Since you became my friend

I'm used to be a loser, heading for nowhere
I'm searching for a victim, I've got my troubles to share
I need a friend to lean on,
I've been seeking again and again
I need a chance to prove myself,
I wanna show that I'm a man

I am a scarecrow
Chasing birds away
I am a scarecrow
Until the day you came
I am a scarecrow
Lonely in the morning
I am a scarecrow
There's no one here who can hear me call

All I need is your loving, I need you by my side
Ever since I've known you, you made the wrong go right
I was poor and ugly, but you gave me hope again and again
Life is now worth living, I want you to stay my friend

I was a scarecrow
Frozen in a winternight
I was a scarecrow
Burning in the sunlight
I was a scarecrow
Wasted by loneliness

I was a scarecrow
Watching all the birds fly away

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Scarecrow" by Killer depict the story of a man who has always been a loner, without siblings or friends. He has suffered from the lack of love in his life and feels like he's going nowhere. The man is searching for someone to give him a chance to prove himself and show the world he's a man. However, his loneliness is only magnified when he's reminded of the lack of people who care for him.

Despite this, things slowly start to change for the better when the man befriends someone who helps him turn his life around. This new friend grants him the love and support he's been yearning for and has given him a chance to experience hope and joy. The man's perspective on life changes, and he believes it's now worth living thanks to his newfound friend.

The scarecrow metaphor is a representation of the man himself. When he was alone and without anyone, he resembled a scarecrow. His life was stagnant and not going anywhere. But when he found his friend, the 'birds' flying away from him became much fewer, and he no longer felt like a scarecrow.

Bro it was crazy.
So my dad he didnt even look disturbed. And my siblings were just laughing and saying he had it coming.
While me
Ms. Scardypants over here started screaming and crying. And just wanting the scene to be over with. This scene was terrifying. Because not only did he scream for his mom..

He died horrifically. Straw coming out of all holes possible. Him suffocating.
Though it scared the living heckins out of me. I give this scene an A for the death.
Even though he was a bully I still feel terrible for him. And want him to be Okie in the end.
I guess I'm not one for horror shows. Lolz

You know for being a PG13 death this is one of the most horrible ways to die that I've seen in a Horror Movie.

Jackson Parker

Agreed... Tommy was probably still feeling the pain of being pitchforked, while having his insides turned to straw, which was suffocating him. Only for Harold to presumably skin him and subject him to the torment Harold had gone through...

@Jackson Parker as someone who lives in the far south, where barns and fields are common place

swallowing or getting hay in your mouth gives the same feeling as swallowing a tooth pick without the pain to comfort you and say when it’s out, it’s just the cringing scratchy feeling in your throat

Christian Earth Pony

I can feel myself chocking on the straw. So scary. One of the scariest deaths in the movie next to the pale lady
