New Cold War
Killing Joke Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Closing in on
The Eastern border
It′s a unicentric
One world order
With Sino-Russian
Capitulation
It's an orchestrated
End of nations

Food prices soaring
As the sanctions kicked in
And all the hawks cried more
Oil prices falling
And the propaganda
Talks war
Minerva has decreed
A state of attrition, hostilities

New Cold War!
New Cold War!
New Cold War!
In the Arctic wastes
Under sheets of ice
Mineral resources

Corporate forces eye
Occupation
Ensures supply
Colour coded revolutions
Sustain the lie

Food prices soaring
As the sanctions kicked in
And all the hawks cried more
Oil prices falling
And the propaganda
Talks war
Minerva has decreed
A state of attrition, hostilities

New Cold War!
New Cold War!
New Cold War!

Breaking in a cold sweat
Just like the good old days
The drum beat of hostilities
Has started to play
A perverted thrill
Reminiscent of the big chill
Hair trigger
Giving everyone a shiver

Food prices soaring
As the sanctions kicked in
And all the hawks cried more
Oil prices falling
And the propaganda
Talks war
Minerva has decreed
A state of attrition, hostilities

New Cold War!
New Cold War!
New Cold War!
Food prices soaring
As the sanctions kicked in
And all the hawks cried more
Oil prices falling
And the propaganda
Talks war
Minerva has decreed
A state of attrition, hostilities

New Cold War!
New Cold War!
New Cold War!
New Cold War!

New Cold War!
New Cold War!

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Killing Joke's "New Cold War" suggest an impending world order, centralized towards a unicentric power, with Russia and China's capitulation, leaving nations incapable of withstanding the orchestrated end. The song talks about how the imposed sanctions have led to soaring food prices, while oil prices continue to plummet. The song suggests that these events are all leading towards a state of attrition and hostility. The Arctic plays a significant role in the potential formation of this world order, with the Arctic wastes holding a vast amount of mineral resources that corporate forces are eyeing for occupation, thereby ensuring the supply.

The song also talks about how the perverted thrill of war is reminiscent of the Big Chill, which was a period of tense diplomatic relations between the United States and the Soviet Union during the Cold War era. The lyrics suggest that today's political leaders are repeating the mistakes of the past, and the drumbeat of hostilities is starting to play again, leading to a "New Cold War."

In conclusion, "New Cold War" is a politically charged song that highlights the grave consequences of the current state of world affairs. With tensions escalating worldwide, the song is a warning of an impending world order where nations will crumble beneath centralized power, sanctions, soaring food prices, and plummeting oil prices.

The entire world needs to hear this song and pay so much attention on what's happening to this earth.

I really do love the eyeball scenes of it showing us the eye rolling away from your screen. Showing us we are ignoring the suffering and violence in wars, politics, and destroying our earth with plastics and society problems. The anger in this song is so true and needs to be shouted out loud to the world we are facing.

Unfortunately so many politics and enemy's in every country on this earth makes enemy's and always finds that violence is always the answer to everything.

I feel sorry for soldiers that were forced into fighting in the war or just wanted to so soldiers can protect there own country. I show a lot a respect for wanting to do it so they can protect our country's. But is sick that killing people has to be the solution to humanity and have to make enemy's for differences, opinions or just sickly being evil leaders for their own sick idea like Hitler for example and others like that. Screw the idea of not getting along because of our differences, opinions and evil sick ideas and instead start helping each other and make this world a better place and look after it.

Make love not war. I forever wish peace on earth. Kindness, and respect must be our goal. ✊

The suffering of losing human lives. ✋

I stand for silence, sorrow and for hope for a peaceful future on this earth. 🌏

We will never forget the soldiers who die for protecting country's and to remember for what they did and to carry it onto the next young generation. Such a awfully sad duty and honourable thing to do. So much respect for those soldiers ✊️✊️✊️✊️✊️✊️✊️✊️✊️✊️✊️

One of the best songs ever written and composed. Even though it addresses a sensitive subject that unfortunately becomes more and more intense, this song provides such energy that I think more people should take part in. We must take this seriously before this reality becomes our constant everyday life.
