Band Of Gold

All that's left is a band of gold
All that's left of the dreams I hold
Is a band of gold
And the memories of what love could be
If you were still here with me
You took me from the shelter
Or loved any other
We kissed after taking vows
But that night on our honeymoon
We stayed in separate rooms
I wait in the darkness of my lonely room
Filled with sadness, filled with gloom
Hoping soon that you'll walk
Back through that door
And love me like you tried before
Since you've been gone
All that's left is a band of gold
All that's left of the dreams I hold
Is a band of gold
And the dream of what love could be
If you are still here with me
Don't you know that I wait
In the darkness of my lonely room
Filled with sadness, filled with gloom?
Hoping soon that you'll walk
Back through that door
And love me like you tried before
Since you've been gone
All that's left is a band of gold
All that's left of the dreams I hold
Is a band of gold
And the dream of what love could be
If you are still here with me
The lyrics of Kimberley Locke's "Band of Gold" tell the story of a woman who has been left with nothing but a wedding band after her husband has left her. The band of gold represents the broken dreams of a life that could have been. The tone of the lyrics is one of sadness and desperation. The woman longs for her husband to return and make things right, as she is haunted by the memories of what their love once was.
The song's opening line "Now that you're gone, all that's left is a band of gold" sets the melancholic tone of the song. The band of gold, a symbol of love and commitment, is now the only reminder of what once was. The lyrics describe how the singer was taken away from the shelter and love of her mother, only to have her spirits lifted by love. Yet, on their wedding night, the couple slept in separate rooms. This is a self-fulfilling prophecy, which proved the failure of the relationship before it began. The following lines project the singer's remorse and heartbreak; the dream of what love could be if her partner were to come back and love her like he did before.
Overall, the lyrics of "Band of Gold" explore the loneliness that follows after the sudden departure of a loved one. The song teaches the idea of not taking relationships for granted and the importance of cherishing every moment.
