Change
Kimberley Locke Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sorry for what I forgot to say
But you know how words get in the way, baby, lately
Wasn't strong enough to cut right through
All the red tape between me and you, baby
Time escapes me

What's it going to take to shake these blues?
Pushing through the clouds just to get to you
Can't hold back the storm that's blowing through, yeah

[Chorus]
I feel a change, babe, washing over me
I feel the rains, babe, coming to set me free
It's a one way track, ain't coming back
This train's about to leave
I feel a change coming over me

Never noticed that it's kinda strange
Same story but a different day lately, oh baby
Gotta get up, gotta change the scene
Gotta rip this page from the magazine

[Chorus]

I ain't trying to be difficult, no, no
I ain't trying to be mean
I just gotta do right now
What's best for me

[Chorus]

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Kimberley Locke's song "Change" explore the idea of personal growth and self-discovery. The singer reflects on their struggles with communicating effectively with someone they care about, admitting that they weren't "strong enough to cut right through all the red tape" between them. Time seems to be slipping away from the singer as they struggle with their own personal demons, which they describe as the "blues" that they need to shake off. They can feel a change coming and they are ready to take that step forward, even if it means leaving the past behind.

The chorus of the song, with its repetitive lyrics and soaring melody, drives home the message of change and progress that the singer is feeling. They are "washing over" with a sense of renewal and freedom that finally allows them to break free of their old patterns and start fresh. The singer acknowledges that it's not easy to make changes and move forward, but they are resolute in their decision to do what's best for them.

WOOOOOO THIS IS GOOD!! GIVE IT THE ATTENTION IT DESERVES!

Little Tut

Always been to me, one of the best singers out there with out all of the fluff and auto tunes and cursing and vulgar. I think Kimberly could write for country/country rock singers. Her songs are pure and have real meaning. :)

So underrated, she's amazing

Ronda Walker

Nick Aguilera

I had forgotten her for some time, now I've just remembered her existence and realised the much she's underrated!!.I like her voice, she's pretty good and pity her music isn't played here in Argentina on local radios 😢

spiraljoe1273

Shame she didn't have the hunger to pursue singing after Idol - I still think this single is one of the best Idol alumni singles to hit the airwaves and she is gorgeous and has a great voice.

Louis King

I totally forgot about this sweetheart. Never listened to her music too much but I seen her on Celebrity Fit Club. Love her personality.

Skip Smith

Dayuum This gal is amazing

For sure whatever reason I imagine this song with country production instead of the pop production. It has that vibe in the lyrics. I could totally see a female country artist covering this and having a hit. Would be awesome to have a new AI contestant auditions with this song since it appears vocally challenging.
