Oh my, do I?
Honey, 'deed I do?
Do I need you?
Oh my, do I?
Honey, 'deed I do?
That's why I'm always hangin' around you
Do I love you?
Oh my, do I?
Honey, 'deed I do?
Honey, 'deed I do
Hmm, honey, deed I do
I'm glad that I'm the one who found you
That's why I'm always hangin' around you
Oh, do I love you?
Oh my, do I?
Honey, 'deed I do?
Ah, 'deed I do
The lyrics of King Cole Trio's song Honeysuckle Rose are a declaration of love and devotion towards someone special. The singer poses rhetorical questions to their beloved, asking if they want them, need them, and love them. The repetition of the phrase "honey, 'deed I do" reinforces the depth of their feelings and the certainty of their commitment.
The lyrics also express gratitude for having found this person and the desire to always be near them. The use of the phrase "hangin' around you" portrays an endearing familiarity and a willingness to be by their side no matter what.
This song is a classic representation of the jazz and blues genres, with catchy melodies and smooth vocals that draw the listener in. The lyrics, while simple, convey a powerful message of love that resonates with audiences to this day.
