During World War II, Wesley Prince left the group and Cole replaced him with Johnny Miller. The King Cole Trio signed with the fledgling Capitol Records in 1943.
In 1947, Irving Ashby replaced Oscar Moore. The trio split up in 1955 after Nat's solo career took frontstage.

Things are hot here now they say,
There's a new gal in town.
Gals are jealous, there's no doubt.
All the guys just rave about
Sweet, Sweet Georgia Brown.
And ever since she came, the common folks all claim, say
Two left feet, but oh, so neat has Sweet Georgia Brown.
They all sigh and wanna die for Sweet Georgia Brown,
I'll tell you just why, you know I don't lie (not much!).
It's been said she knocks 'em dead when she lands in town.
Since she came why it's a shame how she's cooled 'em down.
Fellas that she can't get must be fellas that she ain't met.
Georgia claimed her, Georgia named her, Sweet Georgia Brown.
All you gals will get the blues,
All you pals will surely lose.
And, there's but one excuse.
Now I've told you who she was,
And I've told you what she does,
Still, give this gal her dues.
This pretty maiden's prayer is answered anywhere
No gal made has got a shade on Sweet Georgia Brown.
Two left feet, but oh, so neat has Sweet Georgia Brown.
They all sigh and wanna die for Sweet Georgia Brown,
I'll tell you just why, you know I don't lie (not much!).
All those tips the porter slips to Sweet Georgia Brown
They buy clothes at fashion shows for one dollar down.
Fellas, won'tcha tip your hats oh boy, ain't she the cats?
Who's that mister, ain't her sister, it's Sweet Georgia Brown.
In Sweet Georgia Brown, the King Cole Trio sings about a new lady in town who has captivated the attention of everyone. She is described as having two left feet but being neat in all that she does. Not only was Nat the greatest voice ever, he was also one of the greatest jazz pianists ever. There will never be anyone like him - truly one of a kind.

We miss you Nat. No one can take his place, ever. A real class act, in every way.

The great jazz musician/educator, David N. Baker, who helped to codify jazz language as we know it today cites Nat King Cole as one of his main early influences and inspirations. Baker was probably in about the 7th grade when this recording came out. He said in class once: "Nat was it - back when we were doing what we did!"

Did anyone else realize after that there were no drums? Fast paced with a tight sense of rhythym I almost forgot there was no drummer. Completely awesome.

Nat was an extraordinary musician and human being. Knew folks who worked w/ him and his was a true gentleman. Never be another like this one, never.

WOW! This Just Blows Me Away! No one plays like this today!

Nat was a piano virtuoso, like tatum and Oscar Peterson. Insanely talented musician.

The piano was a toy in Nat's hands. Pure and simple, he could have as easily played Rachmaninov. He had no limitations save those society imposed upon him. Had he had the freedom to explore higher music, he would be the standard bearer for the ages.

Hmm. He did play rachmaninoff. I think it's on this album. It's a jazzed up version of prelude in c

Thanks for this, Nat was (and still is) much admired on this side of "the pond".
