During World War II, Wesley Prince left the group and Cole replaced him with Johnny Miller. The King Cole Trio signed with the fledgling Capitol Records in 1943.
In 1947, Irving Ashby replaced Oscar Moore. The trio split up in 1955 after Nat's solo career took frontstage.
The Christmas Song
King Cole Trio Lyrics

Jack Frost nipping at your nose
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir
And folks dressed up like Eskimos
Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe
Help to make the season bright
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow
They know that Santa's on his way
He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh
And every mother's child is gonna spy
To see if reindeer really know how to fly
And so I'm offering this simple phrase
To kids from one to ninety-two
Although it's been said many times, many ways
Merry Christmas to you
And so I'm offering this simple phrase
To kids from one to ninety-two
Although it's been said many times, many ways
Merry Christmas to you
The Christmas Song by King Cole Trio is a classic holiday tune that is sung around the world during Christmas time. The song opens with "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose," imagery that conjures up the warmth and coziness of the holiday season. The second line speaks to the chill of winter, giving the listener a sense of the stark contrast between the warmth of the fire and the coldness of the air. The third line mentions the singing of Yuletide carols by a choir, which is a common tradition during Christmas time. The fourth line, "And folks dressed up like Eskimos," describes how people dress warmly to fend off the winter chill.
The song then goes on to mention a turkey, mistletoe and tiny tots with their eyes all aglow. Children can hardly contain their excitement on Christmas Eve, waiting for Santa Claus to arrive with lots of toys and goodies. The last few lines of the song are a simple phrase offering Merry Christmas to everyone from the young to the old.
To sum up, the song is a beautiful and nostalgic ode to the holiday season, with its evocative lyrics and cozy imagery. It is a timeless classic that has endured for several generations and will continue to do so for years to come.

No one will ever sing this song better than Nat King Cole.
@SofiaLps-crazy-about-lps
This recording is such a gift!! I can hear Nat King Cole's actual VOICE, not autotune. Thank you for posting this!
@the78prof72
You're very welcome....glad that you like it.
@clarencewillingham3030
There is no auto tune on any of the recordings, there were 3 recordings all together. The most popular version is the last one recorded in the early 60s. On that version there's reverb added to his vocals, the pitch of the strings are played in a higher key, and his voice is deeper due to age and smoking, but he sounds incredible on all 3.
@genethebeatlesfan2359
Autotune didn't even exist.
@c_m_b_3110
The fact that you think autotune existed when he was alive...

What a difference 15 years makes (1946 original versus 1961 remake)
.
@jazzrecordingsandarchives9198
Hands down the best version. Oscar Moore on guitar, and Nat’s voice is light and delightful.
@grega1972
Nats voice is so much loftier on this version almost like he was in your living room at the piano playing ....I prefer THIS version ....

Getting ‘round that time of the year again, gotta hear this every holiday season
