Since the band's inception, there have been over fifteen musicians in and out of King Diamond, with the only two mainstays being vocalist King Diamond and guitarist Andy LaRocque. In 1987 the band released their second studio release Abigail (their first concept album). Throughout the 1980s, King Diamond released a total of four studio albums. In the early 1990s, the band was put on hold when King Diamond reunited with his former outfit Mercyful Fate. After reforming King Diamond in 1994, Diamond would balance recording and touring with both Mercyful Fate and his eponymous band throughout the 90's. Since the early 2000s, King Diamond have kept recording and touring and, since 2014, the band has been composed of vocalist King Diamond, guitarist Andy LaRocque, guitarist Mike Wead, drummer Matt Thompson, and bassist Pontus Egberg.
Father Picard
King Diamond Lyrics

Madeleine and a few other nuns
At the convent will meet him tonight
Father picard:
"welcome to my quarters, do come inside
Welcome dearest sisters, come into the light"
Things will be different here
You are the four God has chosen
To be his angels in white
Drink my sweet holy wine"
"oh yeah come on it's not a crime
From now on every Sunday this time
You will attend this communion of mine"
Father picard is hiding something
A white powder for the wine
Father picard:
"I'm father picard, I'm taking over
Things will be different here
You are the four God has chosen
To be his angels in white
Drink my sweet holy wine"
The nuns freak out, lust in their eyes
From now on every Sunday this time
Father picard's in control of their minds
Father picard is hiding something
A white powder for the wine
The song "Father Picard" by King Diamond tells the story of a new chaplain, Father Picard, who arrives at a convent where Madeleine and a few other nuns live. Father Picard invites the nuns to his quarters, claiming that he is taking over, and that things will be different under his leadership. He declares that the four nuns are the chosen angels of God, and they must drink his "sweet holy wine" during the Sunday Communion. However, a suspicious white powder is found in the wine, which alters the minds of the nuns. As the song progresses, the nuns begin to freak out, lusting for Father Picard. It becomes clear that Father Picard is not who he claims to be, and something evil is lurking beneath his surface.
This song highlights the dangers of blind faith and obedience. The lyrics suggest that Father Picard is using his power to manipulate the nuns, and he seems to have a hidden agenda. The white powder in the wine implies that he is drugging them to get what he wants. This could be a metaphor for how charismatic leaders can influence people and take advantage of their trust to achieve their ulterior motives.
