The Circle
King Raam Lyrics

They told me not to say a word
I could've made it for the door
But all is fair in love and war
There is no mercy in this room
Where men and mice are gone too soon
There will be blood she guarantees
We are, we are, the never-ending story
Until we submit to the velvet revolution
I never believed it, the stories that would be
passed down to us from the clouds above
We are, we are, the never-ending story
And all we do is spin around and round and round and round again
round again
The lyrics of King Raam's "The Circle" seem to describe a situation that the singer finds themselves trapped in. We get the sense that the situation is undesirable and perhaps even painful, as evidenced by the opening lines which state "They never said that it would hurt/ They told me not to say a word." It seems like the singer may have been warned about this situation in some way, but they went ahead with it anyway. They may have had the opportunity to leave, as the second line suggests, but for some reason they did not take it. The next two lines seem to suggest that the singer believes that the situation is a product of love and war - forces that can be extremely powerful and dangerous.
The second verse paints a bleak picture of the situation as it is - there is no mercy, and people are dying prematurely. The use of the phrase "men and mice" creates a sense of vulnerability and desperation. The lines "There will be blood she guarantees/ She pulls the plug and disappears" are particularly haunting. The woman that is referred to seems to be in a position of power, able to control the lives of those around her. However, the fact that she disappears suggests that her power is fleeting and perhaps illusory.
The chorus of the song seems to suggest that the situation that the singer is in is never-ending, something that they are trapped in. They refer to a "velvet revolution" which could be interpreted as something that may bring about change or upheaval, but the repetition of the phrase "spin around and round and round and round again" implies that this change may not come easily or quickly. Overall, the lyrics of the song suggest a sense of hopelessness and despair, but also a sense of resilience in the face of difficult circumstances.
