Let Go Of The Pain
Kings Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Love me much too much
If you let me go
Life will lose its touch
What would I be without you?
There's no place for me without you
Never let me go
There'd be a thousand hours in a day without you
I know
Because of one caress my world was overturned
at the very start
All my bridges burned by my flaming heart
You'd never leave me would you?
You couldn't hurt me could you?
Never let me go
Never let me go
The lyrics in King's song "Let Go of The Pain" are powerful and emotional, expressing deep fear and neediness for the stability of a loving relationship. The song addresses a lover, expressing a plea for them to never let go, shining light on the difficult feelings that arise even at the thought of losing them.
The first verse encapsulates the desperation that arises at the idea of being without this person, stating that life would lose its touch without them, highlighting that they are an integral part of the singer's happiness. With the line "What would I be without you?" we can hear how the very thought of living without this special person in their life is unbearable.
The second verse further solidifies this fear, stating that if they were to go away, their world would become completely unmanageable. The last few lines of the song are the most vulnerable, pleading with this person to never let go, asking if they would leave or hurt them. The overall theme of the song is fear of abandonment, and the absolute need to hold onto the love and comfort this relationship provides.
