Psalm 51
Kings Kaleidoscope Lyrics

according, to your unfailing love.
According, to your great compassion.
Blot out, my transgressions.
Wash away, my iniquity,
cleanse me from my sin.
Against You, You only have I sinned.
My sin is, always before me,
surely I was, sinful from my birth.
I know, You desire truth.
The lyrics to Kings Kaleidoscope's song Psalm 51 are a heartfelt plea to God for mercy and forgiveness. The writer acknowledges their own transgressions and sinful nature, recognizing that they have sinned against God and pleading with Him to blot out their sins and cleanse them from iniquity. The repetition of "according to" emphasizes that the writer is appealing to God's character of unfailing love and great compassion, recognizing that their only hope for forgiveness is in God's mercy.
The writer also acknowledges that their sin is always before them, and that they were born sinful. This is a recognition that sin is not just an action, but a fundamental part of our nature as humans. The line "I know You desire truth" is a reminder that God desires honesty and repentance, and that true forgiveness and cleansing can only come through confessing our sins and turning away from them.
Overall, the lyrics to Psalm 51 are a beautiful reminder of the mercy and forgiveness that God offers to all who come to Him in humility and repentance. They also reflect the deep reality of our fallen nature, and the need for constant confession and dependence on God's grace.
